I have a 2001 Dodge Durango 4.7l with 250,000 miles that hasn't been idling right lately. Sometimes when started and in park, it will rev up 500 or so rpm for a minute and then drop back to normal, then if I tap the gas pedal it rev back up a couple hundred rpm's for a minute again. It also does when driving at all speeds, if I tap the gas while on the road, you can feel it pull for a few seconds and then start to slow down. When I stop at a red light sometimes it will rev up when drops down to first gear and I have to put more pressure on the brake pedal to keep it from taking off. Other times it will die completely. I will have to hold my foot on the gas pedal slightly to keep it idleing. It won't die at high speeds, but when I start to slow down and below 25-30 mph it die unless I hold my foot on the gas and brake both. I have read around on this forum and seen some similar problems that people said the throttle position sensor was most likely the problem, but I just replaced it and the motor is still reving with in park. I haven't driven enough to know if it fixed the motor shutting off problem though. Also, it dosen't do it all the time and my check engine light isn't on
Thanks for any help.
