I saw on a TSB that Jeeps could get programing redone to turn their 4speed auto into a 5speed auto..

It also said that a reprogram is avail to Dodge users who experince hard upshifts from 2nd to 3rd gear.

I have a harsh shift from 2nd to 3rd.. is this a free repair provided by Dodge or will the dealership charge me to get this fixed?

Any TSB that has been issued says what needs to be fixed and what it costs or not should be in the writing of the TSB. Normally, these fixes are free, but you need to read it before going in.

Dude. I posted the TSB twice already and explained it at length.. It says Dodges can NOT get the 5th gear flash. The flash you will get will ONLY change the 2/3 shift, it will NOT add the 5th gear. And it will cost you 1 hour of labor since it's not a recall - this is considered a 'convenience' TSB and was only done free while the factory warranty was running.

If you want the 5th gear, you must change to the Jeep TCM. It's not a matter of playing dumb with the dealer, it's that the DRB will only load the flash that is authorized for that vehicle. There's one for Jeep that fixes the 2/3 shift and adds the 5th gear, and there is one for Dodge which only fixes the 2/3 shift.

Not drinking, I know where you're going with this, and it won't add the 5th gear, so don't waste your money. Just do the Jeep TCM.

I was looking to see if dodge fix the shift issue for free. My truck went in for an oil change today an figure while they had it for 6hr they could reprogram it. But they wanted $105 to do it an I had no proof it free (didn't know if it was free at the time) so hence why I asked.

I even told him if I spend $105 on it, might as well spend $70 for a 02-04

Exactly.

Only recalls are done free at any time. Regular TSBs you pay for out of warranty.
