Can someone help me identify my transmission?

2004 Dodge Dakota V6 3.7L 2WD Quad Cab w/ automatic transmission.

Owner's manual of course says nothing. There is no sticker in the glove box and can't find any stamp below. The Parts Manual identifies a gearshift cable that fits either a 42RE or a 46RE 4-spd auto...

The Service Manual has options for 46RE, 48RE, and 45REF. And Wikipedia says 46RE (A518) on the Dakota til 2003, and 48RE (A618) on the Ram from 03-04. Here's that link: TorqueFlite - Wikipedia . My 04 Dakota doesn't seem to fall into either of those buckets.

cheers

My best guess is a 42RE since its a V6 and two wheel drive but I'm not sure if that was discontinued for 2004 like the 3.9 but I guess a 45RFE could be possible but I kinda think that they were only behind the 4.7

I kinda figured since the 3.7 is to the 4.7 as the 3.9 was to the 318/360. I'm guessing the only auto offered after 2003 was the 45RFE then?
