I have this random ticking coming from the front of my motor when its idling, and it never was there before, i recently took off the clutch fan, running synthetic now, and also new NGK v-power plugs, anyone else having this sound? It's very distinct and i noticed it after i took the fan off

Also even after running it, it stills ticks, IT'S DRIVING ME BONKERS :funny::rant:

It may be the lifters. Does it sound like your typical OHC setup or is it real loud?

It's not real loud, i have to put my ear near the grill to hear it, it may be from the fan covering up the noise before

I had the light ticking awhile back and then it turned into a loud ticking and now I am having to put $1,000.00 into the motor because come to find out the timing chain on the driver side of the motor is stretched out and if that is the case plan on replacing all three timing chains because they come in a kit and there aren't a lot of shops out there that will replace just the bad one. Good luck hopefully yours is better than mine.

Check your exhaust manifold passenger side towards the rear of the truck. Mine the AC dripped on it and made the bolts crack. Causing an exhaust leak that drove me nuts. So we bought headers.

Thanks i'll look into it

can be anyrging. you injectors firing i know they are loud. i would place a finger on an injector and see if the sound is in sync with the pulse you feel. most its just be lifters or manifold leak. I think almost all 4.7 do this. I know mine does. People replaced the hydraulic lash adjusters and cured this problem

I just fixed the manifold leak on the drivers side, if its the lifters i'll get some nice onse since i'm getting ready to powdercoat some parts in the engine bay.
