just don't use the film on items that get hot like the valve covers or intakes- The film is not high heat freindly- There is now a company that has an anodizing film for doing such parts- Seen them at the SEMA show- their film will only stick to metal
I've gotta ask my paint shop if they have any high temp base coats that would work with plastics. It took them awhile to get me a paint mixed up that the film would stick too good and not react with. I'm not going to do my valve covers but I would like to dry to do it with my stock ones I have laying around for shits and giggles. Another thing I plan to dip in the spring is my bowling ball. Be something differen't and it already needs sanded down and re-finished. Hardest part would be clearing it with very light coats that won't want to run to the bottom of the ball lol I'd almost have to dip one half at a time for it to come out looking perfect. Might not be usable when I'm done but it sure would look sweet :mullet:

Also I contacted Black Cat customs about ordering some blue guages (main, fog light, and Hvac) to match the skakeskin better. Also getting the LED kits to light everything up blue. Right now it looks kinda silly with the stock guages but it should look bad ass once I get the blue gauges from BCC. Looks awesome in person. It's hard to photograph but I'll try and get some better pictures once the guages are here. Next plans are Custom floor mats, Viper seats w/ IB accents on the sides, BCC guages, and a custom center console/subwoffer box with snakeskin accents worked into it.

The whole "viper theme" will be more clear in the spring once I get 10 spoke vipers on and finish my Gen3 Viper brake swap on all 4s.

Should have me Embroider some Viper door inserts for you too

^ Sounds good to me. Have any ideas in mind? I did away with my visors since my tints dark enough to block out the sun on all sides lol If you can come up with a sweet door insert design I'm all up for it. I just wrapped mine in some leather I had around here for now.

Also when I do get the viper seats, I'll see if I can send you the insert area that says "viper" and replace that with a Blue Snake on a new piece that I can stich back into the seat.

I stopped by the place in my area that does this (http://www.superiordash.com/) and found them to be very cold. I find the place and go in and there's this big sign on the door to the lobby saying:

"Absolutely no solicitation and vendors must make an appointment. No visitors."

I can understand the first two things, but the last? Am I a welcome customer or an unwanted visitor? I didn't know. The door to the lobby was locked, so I rang the buzzer (dammit I decided I was a welcomed customer) and the guy came out to let me in.

The guy acted like I was a big burden to him. I asked if they had any brochures and he said no and that I should check the website. Gee, thanks.

I looked at some samples they had on the walls and just found it hard to believe this was a hydrographic film. The stuff just looked too thick and one even had a 3D effect.

"Is this done with that technique where you roll the object in water?"
"No. This is something else."

That's all the guy said. No details, no nuthin' I was annoyed with this whole thing so I didn't care to pursue it anyway.

Then I asked if he could give me a ballpark figure on what something like this (pointing to the samples on display) cost. He said "It depends. You could have a truck with a 4 piece dashboard or a Porche with 25 pieces"
Gee, no kidding. I already knew there are a zillion variables but I was hoping for some feedback that I could answer and get that ballpark figure. He didn't even ask what kind of car I had! Again, I was annoyed so I didn't care to pursue it.

The stuff (whatever it was) looked incredible, but there's no way in hell I'd have it done at that place with people like that. And this lobby area was clearly setup to promote their products to potential customers, so it's not like this shop was a work-only type place.

Try calling around to some of the hydro business online. You will be treated the same way. For some reason people like to keep this process a huge secrete and don't like to share. You either have to buy from them or pay to recieve their information. If you are interested in doing this than PM me and I'll give you all the details and let you know what all you need to get set up.

 looks great! just curious, is it only patterns or can there be images like skulls or something too?

I have been signed up for their e-mail promotions since I saw them at SEMA back around 2003. Superior Dash's primary business is to produce peel-and-stick dash kits for a huge variety of vehicles. I can understand a bit why they might not have been very interactive with you, they typically sell their pre-built parts to wholesalers - they're not a "bring your part in and we'll apply hydrographics to it" shop like Phoenix Imaging. Their storefront is probably setup for wholesale customers to come in and visit their operation, they probably don't deal with individuals wandering in off the street very often.

Also to go with the dash black cat customs is making me a set of guages (main, foglight and hvac) The foglight and Hvac panels will be a pearl blue background with dark gray markings that will light up blue. The main guage will also light up blue via LEDS. Should look bad ass once it's all put together.

The carbon fiber does turn out very nice. I think I can only order a couple differen't colored color fiber (red, blue, green) plus silver and black. Might try to dip a couple things in the spring with it. I've got a mustang lined up to do the interior in the spring so I'll post pictures of that project too.

Yeah- what you see is my base color then dipped in the red carbon fiber. The copper orange shows through the red making it look like a darker orange instead of red. Crazy but it worked out perfect for me.

one question... why is your dashboard fuzzy?

I think he's talking about the carpet on top- the dash pad
