The clearcoat goes over top of the ink so it's just as strong as the paint on your truck:

Finally Finished dipping. Just have to clear a couple things tomorrow and I'll be putting everything back on the truck:

Should do your fenders in it, you've done a ton of pieces already.

Is that a wrinkle in the dash bezel or was it just wet?

do you plan on letting us send you some stuff to do??????:wave:

Maybe in the spring I'll dip stuff for others but right now I've got the tank drained and I'm done for this year lol Should have everything put back together sometime today so I'll take some pictures.

so can you different colors? also how about some action shots of this stuff getting done!
Everything is painted in a base coat before being dipped. The only thing that the dipping transfers is the black ink of the snakeskin for instance. So yes, any color can be dipped. I believe my supplier can also custom order silver snakeskin as well but I do not know if the pattern is the same.

But how durable is that stuff? It looks great, but if it scratches easily and then flakes away it wouldn't be too practical. How well can it withstand sunlight?
Just as durable as anything else you paint.

Here's the layers, top to bottom

* Automotive Clear Coat
* Hydrographic film
* Automotive Base/Color Coat
* Automotive Primer
* Your part

Darren's shaker was done back around 2006, as far as I'm aware it's still holding up just fine. I had my interior parts done for 2 years and they still looked great - haven't seen Allen around for awhile to get feedback on how they now look after 6 years.

just don't use the film on items that get hot like the valve covers or intakes- The film is not high heat freindly- There is now a company that has an anodizing film for doing such parts- Seen them at the SEMA show- their film will only stick to metal
