...that no one makes a rear 2" lowering block kit for a 2000 2WD Dakota? No one. I've been searching all day, and all I can find is R/T stuff, 99 and older stuff, and 03 and newer stuff. I just want 2" steel or iron blocks, U-bolts, and nylocs.

If anyone knows of a quality kit like this that I've missed, please let me know. No shady ebay parts, and I'd prefer to avoid aluminum blocks, thanks.

Just heard back from Belltech, they only do springs or hangers.

I did find a company call DJM that says they sell a kit for my truck. Anyone heard of them? Any good? Seems hard to go wrong with steel blocks.

Western Chassis says their universal kit for GM trucks will also work for my Dakota, and offers an option for a 2 degree pinion angle for extended cab trucks. I got confused there, seems the driveshaft angle would be more extreme on a standard cab since the rear axle is closer to the transmission. What am I missing there?

It's a commercial rear end per the glovebox, open diff per the jack-it-up-in-the-air-and-spin-a-tire test. Trim level is SLT, and it seems to have about every option, but no LSD.

Did you know a Dakota R/T is a 2wd Dakota? And lowering blocks are specific. If it will fit a R/T it should fit your truck.

I did know that, but it's my understanding that with the additional 5hp that the R/T makes, it requires a 3.5" axle tube, while my 4.7 powered truck only uses a 3" axle tube. Unfortunately I don't have an R/T laying around to measure.

The axle on your truck is based on what was ordered. All R/Ts came with the 9.25 axle. You could get that in a 4.7L as well. The axle tubes are the same size on every 9.25 axle housing.

If you look at the rear axle cover pan, and notice it's an octogon or stop sign shaped with 12 bolts going around, u have a 9.25 or "corporate 9". In which case, parts specified for r/t's will work.

If it's sort of oval shaped with 10 bolts, u have an 8.75.

I have a 4.7 2wd and mine has the 9.25

Update, I picked up the Ground Control kit, specified to fit 97-04 RWD Dakotas. It comes with 3" U-Bolts. I do not have a 3" rear axle. Things got pretty creative, but I got it in there. My only concern is that the U bolts are of a smaller diameter than the ones I pulled out. I'm going to give them a shout an see what they think.
