Okay, so I just piccked up a '94 3.9L 4x4 auto. Guy I got it from put in a used tranny because he said the original was slipping. So he drove it for over a month with the slipping tranny and it ran great. After he swapped the tranny it wouldn't start which is why he was selling it. He got it running after finding that he pinched some wires in the transfer case,. So I bought it and started to go to work on it. Had to top off the tranny with fluid, then I seafoamed the engine, and changed the oil with Valvoline Maxlife semi-syn. Truck has 183K miles on it. It started and ran okay once I figured out the transfer case was in neutral. The ignition is bypassed for starting so it has a push button start on it, but it always started right up. Went for a drive once I got the transfer case figured out and about a mile from the house it started running a little rough. Caught a red light and while sitting at the light it was acting fuky but still running. As soon as the light turned green, i hit the gas and the truck died. Now it will crank and crank but not fire. Has pressure at the fuel rails, and I dumped 2 gallons of gas in the tank thinking maybe the gauge was wrong. tHE cps AND OIL PRESSURE SENSOR WERE BOTH CHANGED WITH USED ONES.

Any thoughts or ideas on where to start?? Will probably pull the plugs to see what they have to say, and then start checking sensors. Really wish I had a '94 FSM to read though.

coil??

Okay, now it went from crank and no fire to complete loss of all electrical. Tried to get the trouble code doing the key on/off sequence and didn't even flash the CEL. So then tried starting it. It tried to crank and then stopped, then would only click the starter, and next thing I know I lost all electrical, including the interior.

Coil was swapped, no luck. CPS was replaced, but could be damaged?? Little disc under the cap was also replaced by rprevious owner, but could try again. He left the extra one in the bed. But none of those would explain my current problem of complete loss of electrical.

Do you still have no electrical? My old 93 and the 96 I have now, I have had to change the positive battery terminal. I would start by loosening the terminal up, giving it a slight twist on the post, then tightening it and seeing if that changes anything. Sounds dumb but start there.

Well, I'm getting 12VDC to the PDC under the hood, and I get 12VDC to the red/white stripe wire at the fuse box under the dash. But absolutely nothing works, no headlights, no dash lights..... The starter is connected to a push button wired straight to the battery, so even with no power to the rest of the electrical, it should still engage the starter solenoid. Of course if there isn't 12VDC on the power terminal for the starter then it doesn't matter. But of course the truck is outside and it's raining, so not going to be crawling under the truck today. This thing is an electrical nightmare for wiring. Shit is spliced in here and there, wires cut. Had a headlight strobe at one time. The flasher unit is still under the hood, just not connected. Some of the splices are just two wires twisted together and electrical tape. Really need to get it somewhere dry so i can actually work on it. Wsn't supposed to rain until this afternoon, but it's been non-stop since before we woke up.

Do you have ANY electric? When I have a problem, which I just rectified last week, everything seems to be working normal until I turn the key and just hear a click. When I open the door, the buzzer sounds very weak. So I go and twist the terminal, when it starts to buzz strong again I try to start it again. Just a thought.

Blown iod fuse?? If u got a lot stray wires and wet conditions it may hav popped. But that only xplains loss of pwr accesories, should still start. I'm stumpd at the moment.?? But I hav had terminal issues on both trucks I have now.

Good call on the battery terminals. Didn't think they were the problem since I could use my volt meter and chassis ground and get a good voltage reading under the dash, but twisted the terminals a little and got my electrical back. Now I'm back to cranking but no fire. Anyone have a '94 FSM, or at least wiring diagrams I could use?
