Good to know, i thought it was identical except they added another set of overdrive clutches. You know i don't really know shit about 4.7s :)
It's a three planetary trans, so it's theoretically capable of eight forward (three OD) and two reverse gears. They don't use them all because some are very close to the same ratio.

Nice, probably would help with fuel economy. The magnum style motors are awful on gas, especially the 5.9!
Its beautiful on the highway! In town I get about 15/16 but get out on some open road going 75 and I get about 22. And for a V8, 4x4, with a third row seat, and 146,000+ miles I don't think thats too bad.

My best MPG ever was 15mpg on long freeway trip. I average 12mpg in a 2wd regular cab lol

Jealous! I was reading the internal parts minus the valve body are similar to the old 46re except the 45rfe has the extra planetary gears.
