Ok, so my dad came home with the Dakota I'm getting. The loan I applied for is a GO!!! Its my dads friends shop who I'm getting the loan through and I needa 800 dollar down payment. Which, right now, I'm paying 700 to get my license back first.

Hes doing me a favor and letting my give him payments on the down payment. So, I have to pay 700 more towards the down payment. Then, after, I get the truck. 250 a month for 2 yeras. Not bad in my opinion.

It is a 2000 btw, extremely nice interior , practically new. Has the center seat. Does anyone know if when its a Regular cab, and it has the center seat. (with the middle, it folds up, and then u can sit.). Then, what you sit on, theres a cup holder that slides out. Is there a handle or switch or anything so that I can lift the seat up?

And it rides GREAT. I think there may be a 2" lift or just the front torsion bars already cranked cuz its alotttt bigger than the stock dakotas I've already seeen. Trans slips kinda quite a bit but I think its covered for the 1st year. Will make sure. Hopefully they'll change it first cuz it slips quite a bit but runs f'in great.

I'm REALLY excited, first trucks I'm taking a loan out on, can't wait!!

Thank you! It just drives so smooth, as crazy as I sound, it feels like that smooth/"driving a boat" style ride like people talk about the old Cadillacs. Maybe someone understand what I'm saying, but may not understand as far as the actual ride of the truck haha.

Idk, its a smooth ride and I love it, just the trans. Doesn't compare by any means to the Ram I had but then again, that thing was all sorts-a-hooked up.

Hard to tell with the tiny pics, but does look t/b cranked.

very nice. enjoy it!

So the truck's gonna be about 6 grand? 3 years ago I got a 16 grand loan (it's paid off btw) for my 04 Dakota, of course at the time it was almost like new condition at 45k miles.

I think you overpaid for yours. Mine was around the same mileage but an 03 and the dealer I got my truck from was pricing at around $12-$13k. I financed mine for $10.5K.

Still was allot cheaper than the 05+ Tacomas I was interested in before finding this truck.

I honestly would've taken a 7500 dollar loan if thats what the truck cost. Only reason is because this was literally the ONLY vehicle in the WORLD I could get a loan on lol . I have bad credit, so do my parents. My dads friend owns a shop and his friend pulled some strings to get me the loan on this truck. Only issue now is that I have to pay $550 a month ON MY PARENTS insurance. If I were to be on my own insurance, I'd be lucky to pay $900 a month.

But I LOVE this truck.

Dude you're like 18, how can you have bad credit already?? It took me until I was 21 to screw myself over (and boy I did it spectacularly, my best score was in the low 500's for the longest time), and now 10 years later I have finally worked my way out of subprime hell. If you've fucked up, fix it NOW while the damage is minimal. Otherwise it snowballs and it's going to take you a looooong time to get back to square one.

And seriously, what the hell did you do that you not only lost your license already but have such a bad insurance score that you're paying $550 a month on your parents insurance (and I know you have to carry full coverage because of the loan and it's NJ so its expensive anyway [I was born and raised there, so believe me, I know], but DAMN!)??

OMG... $550 a month for insurance?! F that, I've paid 5x less that much in 6 years of having my license since turning 18.

He's going to get his shit repo'd LOL

$550 + $250 = $800 a month just to have the thing sit in the driveway.. figure $200 in gas.. that's a grand.

Sorry, but 6k for that truck is way too much. I paid $4000k for a fully loaded 01 durango.. And your truck has tranny issues right off the bat! I'd avoid. Otherwise you are likely to have a $800 payment a month just to say you have a dakota.

You may want to reconsider your options because $1k a month just to drive that truck doesn't seem very logical at all.

..but we can't knock him too hard. If he actually pays on time, and pays it off at least that loan will be 1 good thing on his credit record... but wow the cost to get there is nuts. But his profile says he has an 04 Ram??? And 18??

It's do-able if he makes enough money, hell I paid $900/month for mine during summer months to get ahead. But paying a grand a month for a truck and not atleast get ahead in payments is stupid to me.

Oh great.. born and raised in Jersey??

I'm from Mount Holly....

And I agree..what did he do? I pay $590 for 6 months for full coverage (everything you can get), no deductable on anything..

He's a "waiter" as listed in his profile...

Those models are overpriced worse just because it has the T on the front end. The fact is those models are not really that much better than even the GenIII's when it comes to certain performance metrics like towing.
Not to mention, those models sold in the 100K range for between 3-5 years, they should not be priced like that.
