Check for play in the U-joints (front and rear if 4x4). I just had this fixed over a week ago and I had 1)checked the balance in the tires and 2)got an alignment and neither fixed the issue. I had them change out the U-joints as well when having the alignment done and it was gone. The growl and rattle might be from the U-joints as well but that could mean your about to lose the driveshaft(s). Get that done soon.
