What are some symptoms of too much timing and to little timing. Im having some problems with my timing since it started getting cold and I dont think its the a/f because it was at 11.3 when I was 60* and now its around 30.
Thats weird I dont even have a flash. I used to only happen every once in a while but now its all the time. Im starting to think its running lean because 3k is where I hit full boost. When I first had the problem I had the wiring for the injectors worng and when I got that right it went away but now its back. Maybe the paxton computer is fried? Thanks for the info ill give B&G a call.bandit01 said:Well I first thought that it was my transmission acting up, but before doing alot of work I wanted to try one other thing. I installed my old mopar pcm that I had laying around and the truck ran fine. It didn't have the pep like with the B&G flashed pcm, but it fixed the problem. So I called B&G and informed them about the problem and they didn't have any clue why it would do that. I wanted a reflash to see if it would fix the problem. So he said to send it in and he would take a look at it. I ended up paying for the reflash because I had him make some changes to the computer. All in all after I got the computer back and installed it. I drove it normal for about an hour to let it some what adjust. Then jumped on it every way I could and the problem was gone, just like when I installed the mopar pcm. The only difference was that I had my pep back. So my advice to you is try getting a reflash, it worked for me. I haven't had the problem since the reflash....knock on wood, so I think it is fixed. Let me know how yours turns out.
Hey then you might want to try and reset your pcm. This might help, if not fix the problem. I tried resetting my pcm when the problem first occurred, but that did not fix my problem. It might work for you though. Give it a try.sick 660r said:Thats weird I dont even have a flash. I used to only happen every once in a while but now its all the time. Tried that countless times but no luck. I dont think my aux injectors are firing. They are set to fire around 3k and I think that is the problem. I pulled the plugs and reved it in neutral and tested for a signal and found none. Would reving it in neutral vs. gear make a difference in the injectors fire?bandit01 said:Hey then you might want to try and reset your pcm. This might help, if not fix the problem. The Paxtamap is boost referenced so the aux injectors only come on under boost. Pull the vac line to the Paxtamap off it's source and blow into it with the truck running, you should be able to get the aux injectors to fire (if they're working). Also make sure the ground to the Paxtamap is good. If that doesn't work, the box could be bad, when did you buy it? It might still be under warranty. There have been cases of bad boxes in the past, and also boxes that were shipped out unprogrammed.sick 660r said:Tried that countless times but no luck. I dont think my aux injectors are firing. Ok something seems wrong. First of my paxton box came with three aux injector plugs and I only use two. The first used plug gets a reading of 13.5 volts while the second only gets 3 volts. The third which is not used also only gets 3 volts. When I had the first plug on only it would SOMETIMES flood the engine while only the second injector would do nothing. I dont understand why the first would sometimes work and sometime not.bad360rt said:The Paxtamap is boost referenced so the aux injectors only come on under boost. The box that Paxton uses is made by SplitSecond, and it's built for up to three injectors. From what I was told, all three injector connectors are the same, so it shouldn't matter which ones you use, but I never tested them. You could call SplitSecond and ask them, since they built it.sick 660r said:Ok something seems wrong. First of my paxton box came with three aux injector plugs and I only use two. I ordered the splitsecond software and got a fine tune so I wondering if the injectors are coming in, in stages. I just dont understand why one is getting 13.5 volts and the others 3. Also why the one with 13.5 volts only fires every once in a while under the exact same conditions. I have to talk to splitsecond, paxton and the performance shop.bad360rt said:The box that Paxton uses is made by SplitSecond, and it's built for up to three injectors. Oh, ok, I didn't realize the shop had tweaked your Paxtamap, definitely need to find out if they set it properly. Have you tried taking the 13.5v one off and putting just the 3v ones on?sick 660r said:I ordered the splitsecond software and got a fine tune so I wondering if the injectors are coming in, in stages. Didnt give it a thought. The only thing is I could never get the 3.5 volt one to actully fire the injector, only the 13.5 one did and that was only once in a while. I was also having this problem before I even got it dynoed/custom tune so I'm think the box is bad. Gotta make some phone calls.bad360rt said:Oh, ok, I didn't realize the shop had tweaked your Paxtamap, definitely need to find out if they set it properly. Ouch, yeah, that'll definitely do it. Good thing you didn't beat on it. Hopefully a new box will fix it for ya.sick 660r said:The wideband confirmed that its the injectors. At wot from stop to 3k it was about 11.7 then it bucked and went to 20. So Ill be shipping the box out tuesday hopefully this will be the end of all my headaches.
