The engine block from the Ram will work for you, but I don't know about the computer or wiring harness that comes with it. I'd go with a new or rebuilt one personally because it should last much longer and you know all the history on it, but it would be more expensive.
 
The Ram PCM won't work in your Dakota due to a difference in some of the sensors. And new short block you listed will need to have the cam changed to work in your fuel injected Dakota. You'd be better off finding a totaled donor truck in a junkyard and buying it for parts. Once you get everything working part out as much as you can and send the rest back to the junkyard.

That doesn't always hold true. I have a friend with a 99 R/T running a 98 Ram 4x4 Mopar PCM and its working fine. He has some idiot lights on but his truck hauls butt.

could just get my 318. get a new computer, tb, and your good to go. all im askin is like 550.oo. motor is used, and from what i was told, has 3000 miles on it. (ram that this motor was in, was rolled. motor looks new in the cylinders and all). still had the factory oil filter on it.

i also have some new stuff too. so, if you wanna pm me about it, let me know.
 
Thanks man. It doesn't look like that yet, but it's sitting in Central Cali waiting to look like that. A few other cosmetic mods I didn't photoshop in are also getting done. new front bumper cover, and a rear bumper cover(not roll pan)
i need someone to photshop my truck. i have it listed in the photoshop thread...be so kind as to take a peek
