putting on my cervinis hood the back right stud broke free today, and suggesting on how to get it back in there? the hood is fiberglass

Going to be alot of work since it supports 30% of the hoods weight. Needs to be reinforced when they're doing it, just pray they don't have to do any work on the top side or you'll be dropping some nice coin.

especially seeing they just painted it for me, when it started turning my heart dropped I'm so fucking pissed, the hood paint came out gorgeous though. i red on a mustang forum a guy had the same issue

"fill the wholes, you will need to make it strong, then for the bolts they make a two sided set up.... its like a thick self taping screw at one end(the end you will put into the freshly filled hood) and the other end is a bolt(where the hinge will go on

ive done this before with a chevelle fiber glass hood and it worked like a charm"

i hope tho cause this looks great on my truck

well its fiberglass..... your not gonna weld that haha
Physically, JB-Weld would " work" it's not like welding as in metals..

But no really.. That was a joke, I wouldn't use that shit on anything. A guy I used to work with was a Aviation-Technician, so he did EVERYTHING by the book exactly to whatever exact specifications, and every time we'd have a truck come in with something broke, He'd be like " Damn, I dunno what I'm gonna do with this one" and I'd say " ah shit, just JB weld it" just cause mentioning JB weld would infuriate him and his reactions were always priceless :funny:

haha ya i know what JB weld is i just pulled a dips hit moment. Just are you suggesting JB weld the stud back in or JB weld the entire hood to the hinge?

I had that happen with my brothers cervinis Hood what I did was drill out the rest of the stud then taped it for a new double sided stud then used some epoxy for fiber glass strongest stuff I could find. I know that was probably not the right way to fix it but that's all he could afford at the time. So far he has had the Hood on his truck a couple years and that stud is still holding tight

I cant remember the name of it but I got it from advance auto it was a 2part epoxy they had. I think it cost under 10$ im pretty sure this is what I used http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_1-Minute-General-Purpose-Epoxy-Permatex_7160057-P_N3237_T|GRP2034_____# after I tapped the hole I filled it with the epoxy then tightened the new stud in just be carefull when drilling and tapping to not go all the way though the hood I almost went though.
thanks man if the fiberglass doesn't hold up i will deffinetly try this. thanks again
