OK lemme hear some opinions. I have a rear view camera that I'd like to put in the Durango. Its looking like the only spot I can put it is in the rear liftgate, just below the door handle. Of course this means drilling a hole there. Think it is worth it? I also wonder what sort of abuse those things can take, since I am always lugging crap around in back, so the hatch is opened and closed quite a bit. I would have loved to mount it in the bumper possible next to the license plate, but the steel from the bumper is right behind it so thats a no go. Any suggestions?

Its more for safety since there are a lot of little kids on my block, including 2 of my own. You here all too many times of kids being run over and such, and I sure dont want that to happen here! You can be as careful as all hell, all it takes is one kid not paying attention and lives change for the worse.

Go to best buy and look at some of the setups they have. They have a few, one was a licence plate 'frame' with the camera mounted at the top, and the other one was just a small camera that you put at the roof line...

Instead of drilling, thats just another option...

If it is worth it to you, I'd have to say go ahead and drill a hole....just know that it will always be there.

IMO, I think there are (2) good locations - 1) Below or next to the liftgate handle, or 2) In the liftgate panel above the 3rd brake light. I do "some" towing / hauling, so my preference would be #2. That way it is angle down somewhat, but you can still see what's directly behind you.

Good luck and keep us posted if you do it! I'm actually kinda interested now :biggthump

Ive always mounted it in the hole you put the spare tire rod through. It works great on Ram's and such. It's a little akward mounting it but it looks and works great when it's done.
