Hey Guys, I'm Starting a Hemi Dakota project. I know I know go look at other threads. and bla bla no one really wants to hear it haha

I'm up to par on the engine swap and getting everything fabricated, Being as I Run a fabrication shop and I'm tech savy. not to be cocky.

My goal is to get a bit of info and to see if anyone else has ever done this before. Or if I'll have a one of a kind swap. Also, can a normal hemi computer be tuned to see boost with a 3bar map or if there are other things that will need to be replaced.

Also, with a full on digital ignition system Does anyone know off hand if there is an msd kit similar to the msd digital 6.

will the 2 bar map allow the hemi computer to pull enough timing? I say allow meaning will the computer be able to pickup detonation and pull enough timing say 10 or so deg,

The map sensor is just for vacuum/boost signal to the pcm. Basically what an sct tuner will do is give you the ability to load a complete custom tune to your pcm, so everything is all good...

My 2nd gen dakota was boosted as well but didnt have fly by wire and I could manually control timing and fuel curves

LOL i am on stock injectors...LOL the paxton kit adds 2 60# injectors in the air hat with an injector controller, untill i dialed it in with the fuel pressure a few weeks ago i was running about 10:1 at 6psi....LOL now its 12:1....(i just recently reinstalled it after a belt failure on the powerdyne...) but hopefully this spring/summer the blower is going and i will be welcoming a turbo under the hood....hehehe

This option is a little more pricey, but I would go with a standalone system like FAST. Their Hemi kit comes with an adapter and 90mm LS1 throttle body, so no need for working with the drive by wire, since the LS1 throttle body is cable driven. The FAST system also gets around the lame Dodge ECM where you have to "trick" the computer to get it to work with boost.

You can run it with a 3 bar map sensor if you already have it. A 3 bar will detect more vacuum than a 2 bar thats all.

The way it was explained to me by Hemifever, the 2-bar map is what is tricking the computer. With a 1-bar map, it still only sees a curtain voltage between so and so number. Once it exceeds those numbers, the computer does not like it, so we have to run a 2-bar map to trick the computer into only seeing "normal" voltage. He also said that it would never run as smooth as a Mustang with a similar setup, because of the MAF on a Mustang is much more boost friendly and easier to get right.

Even though the FAST systems, also uses a MAP sensor, it is more boost friendly as it was designed so that it could be used with boost. If I do much more to my truck, I will probably go with a standalone like FAST. Not many people tune SCT Dodge stuff, so finding a shop close enough is not easy to do. Many people close to me can tune with FAST and it is more boost friendly than a SCT DCX combo. I figured I could get the tune close by myself, and then have a shop fine tune it, and save on dyno time. I just don't like email tunes that much.

the reason you run a 2 bar map is because a 1bar map will not read boost properly... It will give goofy voltages.... It has nothing to do with the pcm... Thats Sean feeding you a load of shit right there.... If a sensor is speced to give x-x voltage from x-0 vac, and no boost, thats what the pcms tune is calibrated for.... If you swap in a 2bar, its now speced for x-14.7 psi....so you program the pcm accordingly....

Also, if it really were an issue, you could actually rewrite the tunes to use a MAF sensor instead... Its a simple computer, you just need to speak the right language to get hardware and software synced.....

Its no different than taking your home PC and pulling out the original graphics card and putting in the latest greatest Nvidia pci-e chipset.... You need the drivers to make it work right.... Thats all it is...

Thanks guys, I may be changing the build up a bit..Fitment issues are happening, I need a new balancer for the blower, I need to find a way to mount a 12 rib pulley to it. If anyone is familiar with these hemi style balancers, there kinda hard to just fab something up.

I have a guy less then five miles from my old house. Its across town now. Its Tuners inc. A guy name Tony runs the place.
