ok so i went to go pull my buddys jeep out of the big ass rut he was stuck in.. of course not before i had time to hit some mud myself. went to actually do the pull and throw it into 4 low.. it made a loud crackle noise... i went to put it in park to check it out and all of a sudden it started grinding really bad. no drive or reverse gear... put it in neutral and back into 2wd. have gears again, put it into 4 high and it drives as it should.. no funny noises...

what the hell could be the problem. why would 4high engage but no 4low... (it also worked just 2 days before)... any ideas????

side note. got my buddys cherokee out after he spent a good hour with his gf's wrangler trying to get out. i laughed as i just pulled him right off the rut. :woot:

no actually i never did try it again, the grinding made me worry way to much, and i was to worried about losing any driving ability out on the trail... i will have to take a look at it after i get out..

sounds like you just didn't have it engaged, and Im not sure how you shift yours into 4 low, but next time try doing it at a complete stop and make sure your transmission is in neutral as well, usually that helps

When I got my truck the first time I put I put it into 4 low I had it in neutral and was stopped and the 4wd light hadn't come on and I tried to put it back in drive and it grinded like a mother fucker. I then went up to 4 high then back down to 4 low and its worked great for me ever since with no grinds..
