i have a 99 dakota r/t with 52,000 miles. i just did a complete tune up and replaced the coil and my truck is still idling a little ruff. i think my belly pan gasket may be blown. i noticed when i slam on the gas the oil pressure rises and when i stop it gets lower.

For starters, when your rpm's go up, the oil pressure is supposed to go up.
As you slow back down lets say to an idle, the pressure goes back down.

Well that's how it should be anyhow.

Secondly there are many things that can cause an unstable idle.
Since you mentioned your plenum (belly pan) gasket, look down your throttle body. If you see a mess of oil down at the bottom of it, then yes the b-pan gasket is most likely your culprit.
Check that and let us know. So we can tell you other things it could be.

I had an extremely bad belly pan gasket(It was cracked open in four places and burned 1qt every 100miles) It will not cause a ruff Idle, mine actually ran smooth.. One thing that it could be is a clogged cat. Try running the truck really hard (WOT) for a bit to say 60 (high rpm's)and see if you notice any pinging or a check engine light. I use to experience that and recemtly removed my cat and it solved everything. It was halfway clogged. The exhaust couldn't escape fast enough and caused so much back pressure that I had those problems.

If you heard that, you can try tapping on the cat with a mallet to see if it rattles like a paint can(it should be solid/quite),if it rattles, it may be breaking apart. If it is just clogged, it is hard to test it unless you remove it completely or get a new one.

i hit it with my hand and didnt really notice any rattling im going to take it off and see if its clog or not. did it seem like you had a lttle bit of powerloss to when you had the problem?

I would say major power loss. I bought my truck with the blown belly gasket, had the fixed, noticed a little, then re removed the cat and boom, major difference. I have noticed alot of cats don't last long at all on these trucks, even without the belly gasket problems.

im trying to find time to take the cat off to see if its clogged and hopefully figure out the problem

Ha haha ya, even if its good, remove it! I removed my Catalytic converter less than a half hour after i baught my R/T.......The reason your catalytic converter went out rebel13 is because of all the oil the motor was burnin gunked up the converter

lol and yet I never threw a code.. Rear o2's are useless...

Most people insert a pipe or just gut the cat out.
