Regular headlights are typically slightly yellow or white. The HIDs can be white, but alot brighter, or bluish/purple.

Not really a good way to tell, HIDs can also be yellow. All depends on what temperature they are. 3000k HIDs are yellow.

Yeah, but those are really yellow, for fog lights.

I have seen them as headlights, that is really retarded.

Retarded or not, i'm just saying that they're available. HID bulbs are noticeably different, good way to tell...

And you know what a halogen looks like.

the ballast will make a distinct noise...at least most do
the back of light will have two weathertight connectors on wires(non hid's dont, the plug goes directly into bulb)
they have a warm up period

and finally if you have to ask, you dont have them

Go and stare directly into one of them...

If it burns like hell, you've got the HID's
If its 'tolerable', you've got halogens

:jester: dont mind me, the boys above covered it pretty swell

I think after watching my football team choke tonight, I just might go out to the garage and do that.
Yeah.. sick game... Not an OU fan but hated to see the Big 12 miss out on a Championship.
