Hey all, I just put my truck in the shop tonight to have a spot fixed on my passenger side door. Long story short, a deer ran out in front of me and I slowed down and its baby smacked into the door. Anyway my truck is black and while I was there I wanted to see about having them paint the top of my front bumper which is that hideous grey. The guy at the shop told me if he was just to prime and paint as is, it wouldnt last a year before peeling and if he sanded it smooth and then painted that it wouldnt last more then a year or two. Im sure someone else has painted this portion or something, is this guy just giving me BS or do I need to go about this a different way.

Thanks
Jason

Hmm. Not really sure the 2wd I used to have had the back bumper faded and I was going to paint it back to the black but never got around to it. If you want to paint it rattlecan it yourself. But if you want someone else to do it powdercoat it. That should last you awhile.

I would strip the OE paint off first. From what I have seen the factory coating does not last long on the front bumper.
If ya gotta pay, may as well pay once and be done.

If you have a company around you called speedliner you might look into that. It's basically x line or rhinoliner but it has a glossy coat to it and it isn't rough looking. Thats what i have my accents done in. I can take some pics and show you if you'd like....just thought I'd through it out there. It might not be what you were thinking but it won't chip or fade.

Factory coating fades more than it peels. I still say you get the front and rear powdercoated and call it done.
I looked into powder coat when I did mine, the whites they had did not match the Dodge white. If one wanted black...black is black.
