I have been using 94 on the 87 program :jester: :jester:

If I run 94 on the performance setting it pings all day long

sounds like you need the plenum pan gasket fixed, and the thermostat lowered to the 180* one.

Ok I called superchips back today, determined to get them to sell me a screen.

I got to talk to a Manager or supervisor or something. I explained my problem, and at first he said that because I'm not the original owner he can't do anything for me. But eventually I got him to check if they can sell me the screen.

Apparently no one knew if they could sell me just the screen so everyone I talked to just said no. :cussing:

Anyway he just called me back and they're gonna mail it tomorrow :woot: :woot: $25 for the screen and $25 for shipping!!! The shipping is kinda rediculous but $50 is better than the $200 they wanted yesterday.

I guess they won't normally sell replacement parts but this guy is doing me a favor.......

If you had of asked me yesterday I would never have bought another Superchips product again......but now my faith is restored. The manager I talked to was awsome

I know this is a long shot, but I thought I'd throw this in:

I used to race karts. The tach/temp guage that we used that mounted on the steering wheel had, what looks like the same type LCD display. Due to the amount of vibration, these LCD's would go out quite frequently...at least mine did... The manufacturer of the guages wouldn't sell me a display either. I searched the net, and found a manufacturer of the LCD's. I called them, and they only sold in bulk, wanting me to buy at least 100.. Well, I didn't need that many! At any rate, to make a long story short, the salesman said that the company sent out "samples" for industries to 'test' before they bought in bulk... He said that since I only needed 2 of them, he'd send out a "sample package" to me, at no charge...he even paid the freight! Well, I got the LCD's, they were exactly the same and worked perfect.

I can't remember the URL or name of the company I dealt with as that was a few years ago, but I'm sure there are others out there that will do the same... I've had similar experiences with electronic suppliers in the past, so I don't think this is out of the ordinary for them...

I know that you've already ordered a replacement for your unit, but I thought I'd post this for future reference should a similar event happen to someone else.

Thanks.

Thanks, I was gonna try and track down the manufacturer of the screeen, but there are no markings on the screen at all.

I'm so glad I got a replacement, cause I'm pretty sure if I didn't get the exact one from superchips, I would have been stuck with a $300 paper weight

Actually, you wouldn't have to find the "exact" manufacturer. Electronic parts are made/supplied by several different companies... Such as when you go to Rat-Shack and buy a diode, it might be made by NTE, Motorola, TI...etc., but it's still an 'industry standard part'.

Really, all you would need is the dimensions of your LCD, the connection type and basic display arrangement...

hope it fixes your problem, but i wouldnt be so sure this is it
I hope that its the screen, The programmer still beeps just nothing gets displayed on screen. What else could make it do that?

I also hope it all works out for you, but, you still have bigger problems if you get pinging on 91! I have the same Superchips tuner on my 5.9 Rango and I have never had pinging, except when my plenum gasket was blown.

When is the last time you changed out the plugs and wires? What plugs are you running?

Most people have been able to run 89 octaine on the 91 octain Performance setting without problems! How was it with the stock program? Stock, and at our altitude, your R/T should not have had a knock on 87 octaine!
