I'm guessing you need a new trans for your 4x4 and found one for a 4x2? it's not that easy but it can be done your best bet would be to pull the O.D. housing and have the one for the 4x4 rebuilt with new clutches at a trans shop. there is a spring that applies clutches in the OD part that is very capable of killing you so don't try to do anything with the stuff in the O.D. housing after you take it off.

I hope your trying to sas it? The frame is completely different in the front. It won't work using 4x4 parts. It is much better and cheaper to SAS it. As tor the T-Case, may need to fab it up, it shouldn't be that much work.

i am doing a sas swap so i dont really give a f*@# bout the front end i just needed to know bout the transmission
hey dude just chill, these guys who acutally know stuff obviously have never done this on a dodge truck so they are tryin to help anyway they can dont get all bent out of shape if they say something that you "dont give a f about"

you could alaways run a divorced transfer case, get better driveline angels much stronger. fab up a small diveshaft from your 2wd tailshaft to whatever Tcase you want, fab up some t-case support and get some driveshafts done and you have a better 4x4 set up then if you went with a tcase off the tranny. i've seen it done before on the 45rfe 2wd tailshaft to a dana 300. if you go with dana 300 it is cast iron and is a gear-driven there is no chain to stretch or break or aluminum to bust.

i agree,if this is going to be a tall tire mudder, then go full custom with a divorced case.its way easier to find H-duty parts 10 years old in a junkyard then it is the newer stuff.not only that the newer stuff is all electronically controlled

ha dumba$$ tryin to get a cheap 2wd into a 4wd? dont cheap out next time ya buy a truck

I have gotten way more familiar with this family of trans than I ever wanted to PM me if you want.

Hmmm actually there is another option to this dellema. It is possible to use a twd trans and make it 4x4. I believe the old like 50 60s chev-ys had a drive shaft from the trans to the transfer case mounted in the midle of the truck to distribute weight and have the drive shafts the same lenth. Get one of those transfer cases and your all set just get drive shfts made. The only problem would be to locate them. and i beleve there heavy as hell due to the cast iron case and spure gears.

I wonder if after market has something. Like a v- drive?

I was working for Chrysler when the one on the left was built. Can't stand the looks of them. The other 2 are right on. As they say, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
Get in your Delorean time machine and go back 8 years to find somebody that cares.
