500 rwhp or 500 hp at the crank?

500 at the crank can be done by building a nice high compression build-up.
500 at the wheels will require a power adder.... then your choices are Nitrous or blown.

high compression = aluminum heads
Figure the heads will set you back around $2600 completely assembled with valve train.
Shortblock will probably run you $3500ish depending on parts/work done.

I am having a 408 short block built with a cast crank, forged rods and pistons. The final bill will be around $3200 with parts and labor. Forged crank will cost more.
My builder recommended to stay away from eagle but opinions vary here.

I heard of a couple eagle cast cranks breaking. Ryan went with a forged k1 in mine so I guess there not bad.

KRC = Crap job...... heard of to many horror stories on them building 408's

I thought it wasn't good to mix cast crank and forged rods or the other way around too. Suposedly it puts more stress on the cast parts which kina makes sense. I have also heard good and bad things about eagle. I think that's because of their popularity of corse there will be both stories. I think I might go with scat for mine. Don't know though.

let us know when KRC acutally builds something and DOESNT sub it out.
Till then I will bet every last dollar I own their builds will never match their claims.
You talking about what they build or their parts too?

I think i'm getting mine from Campbell. They seem to have the best price for the same stuff everyone else has. Plenty of options too, they'll put together whatever you want and give you the custom part# and total with shipping over the phone.

I purchased my stroker kit about a month and half ago from cambell enterprises and I was really inpressed with their sales and their staff.Their prices were on spot along with the numerous part combinations. I ended up going with k1 forged crank, k1 h-beam rods with arp 2000 bolts, cp racing pistons, clevite coated race bearing and total seal file fit rings the whole kit was right around 2200 bucks but keep in mind those pistons retail for over 800 a set.

That's not a bad price for all that. I may have to check them out. What block do you plan on using?

I ended up using a stock magnum block out of a 96 model ram van. I had every bit of work done possible to it. such as bored with torque plate, line honed, stud girdle, new cam bearings, the whole bit. I plan on 400+rwhp n/a and over 500rwhp on the nitrous.
