Well I think most of you know that the factory stereo in the Dakotas pretty much sucks.
Well for the QUAD CAB owners....there is some relief for you if you've been looking for more bass.
The MTX Thunderform for previous year Dakota Quad Cabs (2000-2004) will indeed fit the 2005 & 2006 Dakota Quad Cabs.
I used to have a '04 Quad Cab and had one in that truck. When I got my '05 I noticed that the rear seat brackets looked the same.
Called up Crutchfield and ordered the Thunderform box (they would take it back even if it didn't fit) and low & behold it fit like a glove. (I sold the one from my '04 a long time ago)
The best part about this sub box though is that it doesn't take up ANY space at all. It goes behind the rear seat of the 40 part of the 60/40 rear seat. The ONLY disadvantage is that you can't flip up that part of the seat....the other side still flips up though.
The biggest recommendation though is to replace the crappy MTX 10" sub that comes in the box.
I replaced mine with a JL Audio 10W1v2 sub for only $85....money WELL spent because the MTX sub that comes in the box is a piece of garbage.
Plus the JL Audio 10W1v2 has a shallow mounting depth.....since the box isn't very deep.
Then I just hid the amp underneath the bottom part of the seat. The setup is TOTALLY stealthy, but sounds great.
Install of the box is SUPER EASY....just remove the 2 Torx bolts that hold the seat back on and then slide it up and then you drop the box in. Of course, you need to hook up an amplifier and such.
Any questions....fire away.
