Best lift for 2001 dakota 4x4....I've found a few leveling kits that say I can gain 2-3" and I've seen pics and they have a good stance, just wondering if this is the only route I can take other than a body lift??

Yep, its either the body lift or the torsion key/block

Rancho used to make a 5.5" lift kit for the 97-02 Dakota's and Durango's but they don't make them anymore and finding a used set is becoming harder to find these days.
But yeah, besides the Rancho lift kit, the body lift and T/S lift are your best, short term options.

A friend of mine said he did his Durango easy by doing a basic 4" suspension lift on the back with new U-bolts and cranking up the torsion arms to lift the front to match.

*ETA
I may have miss heard him on the lift, it could have been 2".

Probably 2inch he could have done 4 but the nose of the truck would have been diving way down. Your best bet is the 3inch torsion lift with 2 inch blocks in the back

I am converting a 97-99 lift to a 2000 quad cab. A lot if work but I got the 3" lift parts for next to nothing.

My truck has a 3inch Body Lift and 3inch aftermarket keys and 2inch blocks in the rear with 35x12.50x15

If you go to the suspension section and the thread is called 2000 Dakota on 35s there's more pics on there
