Or you coukd also play this game that i like to help with when my friends are having problems with thier vehicles, jack up the truck high enough so you can have your head right about the oil pan or on a 4wd you can use the front pumpkin . Have your friend lower the jack quickly and put you out of your misery. this will solve your problems and keep all your friends and family from pretending to listen about your truck aswell

Well no one learns how to do something like this in 30 min. I'm a Chevy person. I could've pulled a motor and rebuilt it by now with a chevy. Hell I'd even have it almost in again
FYI, the 5.9L motor isn't really any different mechanically than a 350 Chevy. If you can rebuild a Chevy motor you can rebuild a 5.9 just as easily.

Kiss my ass. 01dodgedakota

Personally my Chevy NEVER gave me anywhere near as many problems as this damn Durango has. A 2 week old truck and I have put over 1500$ into it. I'm about to call a damn flat bed and junk the heap.

I've owned 3 mopars and all of them were JUNK... my Chevy has over 220k on it with not a single problem except maybe needing a set of shocks...
It's a 2000 model year Durango, not a 2 week old truck. As mentioned, you bought someone elses problem and are now paying for it. Sounds like the person you bought if from got the better end of the deal.

Uhhh

Don't listen to these guys they don't know what they're talking about. I understand you just bought the truck and don't have any money or the tools neccessary to complete the task so here's what I would do.

GO GET A FUCKING JUNKYARD MOTOR AND ON THE WAY HOME STOP AT HARBOR FREIGHT AND GET A CHERRY PICKER
Think I spritzed myself!:jester: You had me for a moment, then I scrolled down and .....:jester:

All of this needs to be looked past.

But i took the motor out of the truck (you guys were right. Alot faster)

Flipped it over pulled the rod and mains. Every single bearing was worn to the copper and a few were past the copper point. The mains were all pitted to hell.

So im thinking about pulling the motor from my 98 cherokee (318) and putting it in my durango while i rebuild the 360. I was thinking about a mild build. Cam, headers, exhaust, ect. Not a 408 stroker but just something that helps when i want to have some fun

Check out hipotek site. Supporter here, look at the 210X4 can, that's what's going in my R/T Ran go.

That's dumb, just do bearings and rings and and valve seals and put that bitch back together, cause if you do the 318 for one its retarded, two you will never put the 360 back in, and three ITS RETARDED!!!!!

Sill wanna get drug by my Dakota?
Still think you put your foot in your mouth by calling it a "cobbled up pick-up truck"?
Still suck dick for coke?
Still take dumps in public restrooms wrong?

Nice dakota i do have to admit. Nice color. No one is going to be the fastest person on wheels. It can aleays be beat by someone else..

And for what i picked this 318 up for i vouldnt do anything but probably put a new HV oil pump in my 360 and put a quality pan gasket on it.

Plus i know this motor runs STRONG. My parents drove the truck for 5 years.

With 191k on it im flipping it over doing the bearings oil pump rear main and pan gasket.
Maybe some headers. Can i use shorty headers with the factory ypipe? I got a pair from a ram laying around.

The only reason i wont do bearings and rings then throw it back in is because i can see the cam is worn down bad. The motor is full of sludge which i know is common. Id feel better if i hot tanked it and rebuilt it slowly over a period of time.

Pretty much haha. I couldve done most of them in the truck but i figured id admit when im beat and just take the thing out.

The cam itself is worn. I havent checked the cam bearings yet but like you said they probably look like shit.. I picked and chunked about a good pound of sludge out of just the intake valley.

Yeag. But to be honest for a 147k motor ive seen alot worse.

Ill take the crank out today and have it checked by a machine shop.

01dodgedakota. I checked the lower plenum gasket and it looked good. But the plate could be warped.

The lower end looked like it had trans fluid getting into it.

When i bought the truck it was 2qts low on trans fluid. Im suprised the damn thing was moving. But as for the 318 thats going into it tomorrow hopefully. And sunday ill have it all buttoned up and running
