no signature on anything. Didn't even tell me i had to sign anything. he only said that i had to go to court on the written date. He didn't even tell me i could go with a current card today to get it dropped. My mom only knew because she had the same issue a few months ago.

They must do it different here in the south. We have to sign for anything.

That cop that wrote them didnt see it=invalid ticket. Only the ticketing officer can write the ticket if he saw the crime. (told by a cop in person to me).

FUCK THE POLICE
No, jhoppy. First off it was entrapement riding his ass. Second the ticketing officer did not walk to the truck to see the obstruction or the insurance card. He didnt write a traffic violation because he couldnt, and you could have left without signing the ticket if he did.
1st. youre kidding me right? Entrapment for following someone... come on...

2nd. He could see the hanging air fresherner( bull shit but they can and clearly will give tickets for it..) Insurance card, what makes you so sure the cop didnt see it?

hell even the OP ignored me and taz cuz he knew he cut the honda off..

are you a cop texxan?... oh i forgot, you had a COP tell you personally

I'm not cop, but been pulled over plenty of times to know when i was right and when i was wrong..

Seems like a really dumb ticket to try and fight, you were obviously wrong.. Why are u getting so upset? you should be thankful he didnt give u a ticket for cutting that guy off

You guys act like cops are just out there to make your life miserable.. What woulda happend if you got into an accident and you had a bogus insurance card?.. or you hit someone crossing the street becuz for a split second they were behind your air freshner??...

Sounds dumb, but when ur going 40-55 mph the difference behind hitting something or missing something usually depends on that first glance, and if u didnt see it at first glance because of ur small air freshner...

And look back at the OP he clearly has 0 respect for the officer... Guess what if you didnt have such a SHITTY attitude, the cop woulda prolly just let you be on your way..

Lol this is the typical cop thread. Someone complains about a ticket they got which they knew they did wrong, ask if they should fight it, the same people say "fuck yeah fight it, fuck the police." Haha it's been done like 1,000 times on here.

The cop is right, don't fight it, admit you were wrong and pay the consequences. Cops are good people and should be equally respected as someone in the military. In fact most of them are military veterans. Now I know you guys respect every war vet, but anytime a cop is involved you guys are very disrespectful. They do more than you pussies ever will to protect your disrespectful asses.

WELL SAID. If roles were reversed and the Honda driver pulled out in front of you and got pulled over, you would have laughed and the cop would have been your hero for the day.

I know I fucked up in the merge but i know the issuing officer never saw t he insurance card because I was handed it back before he even arrived.

I had zero disrespect for the officer. I spoke to him with the utmost respect and he acknowledged it. I know i fucked up but he could've cut me a break. I was coming back from the freakin fire academy to work side by side with officers of the country.

Oh where the hell to begin?

He pulled me over out of his jurasdriction and called for a cop from the town that we were in to write the 2 tickets. The officer who wrote the tickets never came up to my vehicle. I believe the writing officer should've at least came up to my car to issue the tickets. Since he never came up to my car i believe that he never witnessed anything illegal and that's what everyone whose heard my story is saying.

That is correct. It will be thrown out.
You have no clue how wrong you are. :jester::jester: An officer does NOT have to witness an infraction to sign a complaint/summons. The ticket can be written based on the sworn statement of a witness - in this case the officer who pulled you over.

Dude. You really need to stop. You are eventually going to get your ass thrown in jail for that shitty attitude of yours. And the "advice" you are giving is going to get someone else thrown in jail if they follow it. In states where it is required (NJ is not one of them), you MUST sign the ticket if you want to keep your freedom. The signature on a ticket is an automatic ROR (Released on Recognizance) bond, confirming that you will show up for court on your own. If you refuse to sign it, no bond is issued and you go to jail until you can post a cash bail. In case you didn't know, traffic infractions are criminal offenses.

And get yourself a dictionary and look up 'entrapment'. It is when a law agency coerces someone to commit a crime that they would not otherwise commit.

Most likely the first cop will not go to court. Because he didnt write the ticket, he will not go. No overtime for him. You have a won case
and hopefully my friend could pull a couple of strings. His uncle is the lieutenant in the town the ticketing officer was in. The one and only time i don't have a PBA card on me this crap happens. He also never made me sign the ticket even though i have a court date for the insurance card.
he didnt make you sign? Thats an oath that you promise to show up? You have to sign. WTF

There is no requirement to sign a ticket in NJ. I know, I got plenty of them the first few years I had my license. By all means fight every ticket you get. You might get off - even if you are guilty. Just ask OJ and Casey Anthony. But dont walk around with this shitty 'fuck the police' attitude just because you got tickets - WHICH YOU DESERVED - because you WILL need them one day.

Wanna know why you got pulled over out of jurisdiction in the first place? Because you drove like an asshole. Stupid/sloppy driving is a sign of drunk driving. He pulled you over to make sure you weren't drunk because if he didn't and you turned out to be 3/4 in the bag and a couple miles down the road you wiped out three cars full of families, it would be on his conscience and possibly his jacket if it could be proved. Cops are always on duty even when they are off. They are not allowed to ignore a crime in progress even if they are not within their jurisdiction.

I know I fucked up in the merge but i know the issuing officer never saw t he insurance card because I was handed it back before he even arrived.
He didnt have to see it. The other officer's witness statement that your card was expired and that there was a windshield obstruction is sufficient.

I had zero disrespect for the officer. I spoke to him with the utmost respect and he acknowledged it. I know i fucked up but he could've cut me a break. I was coming back from the freakin fire academy to work side by side with officers of the country.
That's incredibly hard to believe considering your attitude here and the fact that you got the tickets in the first place.

look I didn't give him any lip. I'm venting on the bad news forum because it's shitty news and if I gotta pay em its 254 bucks. that's a months pay for me. I'm just saying what I kept in many head during the pullover. the cop gave me a bullshit ticket and I'm fighting it.

Lucky you weren't in PA. If you get pulled over and do not have valid insurance card, you cannot drive the vehicle. More times than not, they will tow your vehicle and you have to come to the impound lot to pick it up with your valid insurance card.

Well then you should learn to drive properly. Don't drive like a fucking asshole and you wont get pulled over.. Simple enough?

None of you who come here and bitch about tickets and the 'douchebag cop' that gave it to you ever did anything wrong to deserve it, and all of you were perfect gentlemen to the cop's face. You're starting to sound like donram360 crying about the 23 undeserved speeding tickets hes gotten in the last year that he can't afford "because the corrupt cops are out to get him". It has nothing to do with the fact that he was.. um.. speeding.

Bullshit. Be a fucking man instead of a whiny little bitch looking for sympathy. You broke the law, pay the price and shut up about it.

The obstructed vision ticket was completely uncalled for...attitude or not.

Uhhhh NJS 36:3-74 begs to differ. It is ILLEGAL. Therefore the ticket was perfectly called for.

in the dozen+ times ive been pulled over i always had my tassle hanging from my rearview and none of the cops ever said anything about it..... come to think of it most, if not all cops around here at least always have something hanging from their mirror:huh:

You listen to Mr Kansas. He knows everything.

i only drove like an asshole because the cop was tailgating me. I knew from the second he pulled onto the highway that he was gonna come after me. He pulled onto the highway and right into the left lane behind me.

for the record taz, i am a law abiding citizen, a member of the volunteer fire department for 3 years now, and a member of the volunteer ambulance corps coming on a year. I understand the whole don't do the crime if you can't do the time bullshit. I know it seems like i'm being a "whiny bitch looking for sympathy" but maybe i'm just using the whole bad news forum for what its meant for. The whole NJS 36:3-74 law is only enforced as a secondary law or whatever its called, being that you cannot pull someone over for it, but you can use it if you have someone pulled over. As the local cops in my town call it, its an "asshole law" for cops that are on their time of the month. I understand i broke the law by driving like an idiot and not having up to date insurance in the vehicle but the fact that it was my first time being pulled over and getting no leniency on a bullshit ticket like that is beyond me.

Uhhh OK.. so let me get this straight.. most people go on their best behavior when a cop gets behind them.. you see a cop get behind you so you intentionally do something stupid? And you are complaining about being pulled over??

People do get warnings on first offense ever. That's why its so incredibly hard to believe that you didn't give him attitude. Oh and in NJ, PBA associate cards don't mean dick. Only the family shield and metal family card means anything.
