Ok so I bought an 02 RT RC for my son to drive. The guy before us was a total hack and he a Edelbrock triangle style breather on it. The thing is loud as hell when you are in the the throttle at all and it seems the truck is running really rich. Do you guys think this thing is letting the truck get to much air and the truck is dumping fuel to try and keep up??? Sorry i am not a mechanic but it just doesnt seem right to have this breather on the truck. We also have a check engine light on . We have headers , no cats , true duals an xpipe and flowmaster 40 series with turn downs.

An open element air filter (breather) is going to increase underhood noise. I'm guessing the exhaust is the cause of your problems. Headers no cats true duals and turn downs. You didnt mention 02 sensors if they are missing or bad that would cause your check engine light and fuel mixture problems.

Without knowing what the check engine light is for will prevent anyone from being able to help you. Turn the key from off to run(do not start the truck), off, run, off, run then look in your odometer and it will flash the codes for you.

I can also have the codes scanned tomorrow
The 02 sensors were welded back into the pipes
The no cats thing wasn't our choice. The last owner decided to know them out and didn't do a very good job at all. So I just had the exhaust shop remove them and weld pipes back into it. I just wanted to makse sure the breather wasn't causing an issue before I went deeper into the truck
My son loves the sound
