My power locks only work when the lights are on and all the doors are closed. But the passenger lock button will unlock the drivers door anytime. Any ideas? Ctm is brand new.

When the locks work I assume the little green light in the switch glows. When the lock doesn't work, does the green light glow? If not, then there is a break somewhere in the circuit not letting the power flow. Good luck...

What makes you think the ctm is bad? I would verify that it has a good power & ground feed before replacing it. A bad power or ground for a computer can cause all sorts of strange problems.

You keep a spare CTM laying around? Really? If your going through CTM's that much, it sounds like you have other electrical problems that are causing the CTM to fail. As I suggested before, run a voltage drop test on the power & ground feed wires going into the CTM (there are more then one if memory serves) to make sure that it is getting the right amount of power & able to get that power to ground efficiently. If power and/or ground is bad all sores of weird things can happen.

Good luck...

Will do man, my bottom plug has a burnt pin in it, so im thinking theres something going wrong there, and usually when it fails i can just unplug it and plug it back in then it works so its a short somewhere. Hopefully that plug, i went to a junkyard and got another ctm and cut the wires and plugs off with it.

If there is a burnt pin then it is causing resistance which will not allow power to flow properly which causes strange electrical problems. Resistance also causes heat which melts wires & connectors. Disassemble the connector and clean up the pin with some electrical contact spray and some fine sand paper. Apply some dielectric grease (available at your local autoparts store) to the connector and put everything back together. The dielectric grease will help prevent any future corrosion.

Definitely something going on that isn't allowing it to make a good connection (e.g. corrosion, loose connector etc).

Not all CTM's are the same. They are vehicle year & feature specific like PCM's. It all depends on what features were installed from the factory for your ride. If the part numbers match the stock CTM then you should be OK. If not, then its the wrong one. Good luck...
