2001 Dak 4X4 4.7 auto: Cruise control quits after breaking or canceling. Will not re-engage. P1595 says it is the actuator but replacing it did nothing. Testing of actuator says it's ok. Any ideas?

Where was the short?

Does your airbag light ever come on? How about the horn work intermittently? Are the speed control switches dirty, did anyone spill anything on the steering wheel?

Ran a jumper wire from the servo to the switch with a new wire so I'm guessing it wasn't a short after all. I air blasted the steering wheel switches but it turns off and won't re-engage after using the brakes so I am guessing it is not the the switches either. It works for a while after a restart and then throws the P1595 code and goes out again. Next I am gonna try a new brake pedal switch but neither I nor my mechanic are sure at this point. Nothing else is affected (that I have noticed yet).

It's possible the brake light switch is out of adjustment. My understanding is that you can't readjust it and need to replace it.

Otherwise, have you checked the connectors on the PCM and Servo for corrosion and cleaned them?

Well so far the new brake switch control is taking care of the problem. It was throwing code P1595. The FSM manual for that code doesn't say anything about the switch. Looking through all the DTC codes I came across P703 (I think) that refers to the switch and says it used to be part of the 1595 code. I sure wish they would have referenced that in the description of the 1595 code. Any ways the codes changed in the book but not in my readout! Thanks for the help guys!
