does the trans have to be changed when the fuel injection system is not used?Im really thinking about going with a carb instead.Im tierd of an intermitant miss problem Im getting.

what motor do you have if its a 4.7 i dont think its possible or it'd be more trouble than its worth if you could but if its a 360 it'll still be more trouble to change than actually fixing the problem instead of half assing it and throwing a carb on it thinking it'll save all your problems

The 46RH is very easy to run stand alone. I have one if you need it let me know.

EFI isn't causing your miss, and it'll still be there with a carb. Fix whatever is causing the miss. Symptoms? What have you already done?

EFI is just the fuel delivery system. If you get intermittent misses, check the ignition system. --distributor, distributor rotor, and cap, plug wires and plugs.

Check your injectors for a plugged injector, bad ground, etc. Also your O2 sensors.

When I say "check" I mean check and troubleshoot it. Don't just swap parts blindly. Unless you can afford to!!

Just swapping to a carb isn't going to fix anything.

symptoms,at any given moment.driving, parked ,stoped at alight in gear.It doesnt matter, some times sitting at a light in gear it makes it feel like the trans slips in and out of gear with the truck lerching forward.other times you can feel it miss sitting at a light. When driving you can feel the motor jut out real quick, other times its much more noticable.Lately its been poping through the t body.

popping through the TB usually means it's running lean, which would make me think it's a fuel delivery issue (02 sensor, injector, fuel pump). Quickly cutting in and out sounds more like ignition (I've had a coil do this).

If it does it at idle in park, have you tried getting under the hood and figuring out which cylinder it is?

What have you done to troubleshoot it? What parts have you already looked at? Anything been swapped yet? When's the last time you did any maintenance beyond an oil change, and when was it? How many miles on it? Is everything still original?

have you put a fuel pressure gauge on the rail?

Hard to tell without some solid troubleshooting, but kind of sounds like crank position sensor.

CPS has 10000 on it.The last maint was when I built the motor 5000 miles ago.not stock read sig for mods.Ign sys is new exceptfor the dist housing. The coil is an msd.All the other sencors are original.Im goingto pres at the rail tomarrow. That will be the first troubleshooting this time.

The prob was there before when the motor was first put in.I changed the sensors on the Tbody with some spares I had.The problem went away, but came back a few months later.

Now I went out to pick my son up from work. The motor died 5 times. Each time it started right back up.

x2. Single cylinder misfires are either a bad spark or fouled injector (could be compression related too but you check the easy stuff first), and generally throw a code. If the whole engine is cutting out its usually a faulty sensor. Prime example - back in the day (late 80's-early 90's) Chrysler used a horribly designed hall effect sensor in the distributor for the ignition trigger. It would develop thermal issues and just randomly stop sending the signal to the engine, causing it to miss or flat out die. When it died it would usually start right back up but sometimes you had to smack the side of the distributor with a wrench. There was no rhyme or reason to their longevity either, some cars got ones that lasted a lifetime, and other cars just ate them.. I got two in a row that ate them. :D

But to me that sounds exactly like what you're going through.
