so i am going through 2q for around 600miles. the shop tried to tell me it could be a cracked head. i dont see how that would do it. when i start my D i can smell oil burning sometimes and when i turn my heater on i can smell oil. what does anyone think. i love my D the shop said it would cost 2k to do the heads. but i dont want to spend that if its not the heads..

You've got an oil leak. Since you smell it through the heater that indicates that the leak would be visible somewhere on the outside of the engine making it easier to find.
Pick up some of UV dye from your local auto parts store, put it in your oil, drive it for 100 or so miles, then wait until its dark and hunt all around the engine bay and under the truck with a black light. The oil leak should glow due to the UV dye. Good luck...

not loosing any coolant. now i gotta figure out why its running wierd. start up cold it revs up and down then after a few it goes so low and shakes bad like it wants to shut off. then while driving you stop at a light and it shakes and rpm is very low and it sputters when u floor it. then it kicks in. i love my D no matter whats wrong
