So me and my buddie have been having a dispute all the time about this. He has a 2005 GMC Canyon with the inline 5, swears he can out tow me out performe me out power, all of the above. I would like to hear the input of you guys. btw i own a 2004 4.7 both full four doors

tug of war shows nothing but traction. u aint got good tires you aint winning

Race him and tell us.

i think traction is key to anything you can have 800hp but if you cant get it to the ground it dont mean shit... do research on both vehicles and see which has the best towing capabilitys, power, torque, modibility, and everything else

Oh, Lord.:trout2:
That inline 5 is a weak sauce engine, only the 3.7L I5 would be much of a threat with 240 hp/ft-lbs.
Depending on how your truck is equipped and his is, I don't think he is going to be much of a threat anyways.
First, engine/trans: 4.7L V8/5speed auto vs. 3.5L I5/4spd. auto, 235hp/300ft-lbs vs 215hp/230ft-lbs. Winner: Dakota, even with the weight disadvantage.
Second, towing: the Colorado was not designed to pull more than 4600lbs., the Dakota was designed to pull up to 6600lbs. Bar none, the Colorado was a poor replacement for the S10, which could pull more than the Colorado(but not the Dakota still).
Third, size: the Dakota is hands down bigger in all dimensions, including interior space, which is the most important aspect with midsize trucks, and the Colorado is still designed like a compact while being called a midsize.
Finally, I think your friend is giving you hard time because, int he back of his head, he knows he fucked up and bought a shitty truck.:jester: Tell him what I posted and you may be able to save your friendship, otherwise, your just going to hurt his feelings and make him look like a dumbass.:explode:
