i've been trying to diagnose this bitch forever.
first i was told it was a bearing in the rear axle.. don't worry about it doesnt need to be fixed anytime soon.
noise got worse so i replaced the outer driver side bearing in the rear. noise didnt go away... actually seems like it may have gotten a lil quieter tho not totally sure if it did it wasnt by much.. and the bearing i replaced was definitely bad.
so i took it to a shop cuz i didnt have time to fuck with it anymore to find out what it was. so while they put new tires on they checked into the rear diff and they said its not coming from back there and recommended i take it to a trans shop. the trans was rebuilt 5,000 miles ago. went to another shop and just talked to a mechanic there and he said to check the flywheel. unfortunately have not had a chance to do tht yet bc of shitty weather and school.

oh yea and it makes a rubbing/grinding noise when im cruising with my foot on the gas and the noise cuts out as soon as i let off the gas and makes noise when turning right whether or not foot is on the gas.

any ideas/suggestions?

Does it do it in netural?

A BAD ujoint can squeel. If you have an extended cab, you might check the carrier bearing.

noise??

I've got a similar problem with my 2002 Durango R/T AWD. Makes a humming noise when stepping on pedal. Have replaced - power steering pump, outer rear axle bearings and races, changed rear fluid and modifier, changed tranny fluid and filters, changed left front bearing, etc. Still have the noise. Took it to local Dodge Service Manager and let him drive it. He agreed there was a noise, but, he said there is nothing wrong and go ahead and drive it.?? anyone have a fix??

nope doesnt do it in neutral. if im sitting at a stop in reverse or drive it'll make a humming noise though..
i had initially thought the carrier bearing but then i thought if it makes noise when im not moving then it cant be the carrier bearing..
