I'm going to be swapping out the stock brake pads for a set of Hawk LTS pads. My question is do you guys prep the rotors before swapping over to a new set of pads? I know on my motorcycle I use a rotor hone or emory cloth and brake cleaner on each side of the rotor to remove any of the old pad material. Just wondering if this is necessary on a truck as well.

And I cannot believe the amount of brake dust the stock pads make. The main reason I am swapping pads is I am tired of cleaning my wheels every weekend

Usually parts stores will turn your rotors for a few bucks. IMHO its best to start with a new surface on the rotors especially since you bought good pads.

depending on miles and condition of the rotors, get em turned. that way your starting with a undamaged and not warped rotor.
