So,

I was at NTC last year getting ready for our next rotation to Iraq, when I call my wife on her Birthday to ask her how things are going, and wish her best wishes. When i called her she said she had the worst birthday ever when I asked her why she told me, we recieved a Hail storm, that had broke her front windsheild of her Chevy, Colorado. At this point she begin to cry and say Im more worried about how mad your gonna be, cause your Durango's hood and top of the vehichle is completely covered in dents. I had to calm her down and tell her it wasnt that big of a deal. I come home and had only a month left untill I deployed and didnt have time to file the claim and fix the damage. Im currently in the process of trying to file the claim a little late, but from what I read i got up to two years " Hopefully". If not does anyone know any decent tricks to popping dents out, I've heard A heat gun and dry Ice can do the trick, but was wondering about any personel experiences, and seeing if anyone had known of any ways to repair Hail damage, incase my insurance wont support the claim.

Be sure to get your own quotes. I got 2 quotes for my hail damage, one 3800 one 3700. The insurance company sent in their guy that doesn't do body work, just looks at them to give you a quote. His was 2800. They then sent me a check for 2600 (his quote -deductible), even after I sent them my 2 quotes. Still fighting them for extra money, they also say they are dropping my full coverage til it gets fixed which I think is BS as it didn't give it a salvage title. I have no problem not being able to claim hail but if anything else happens I would like to have full coverage on it.

I wasa in only one hail storm in my kife, I thought that with the pounding I was getting that my paint was toast. But the only thing it did was scour my truck clean as if it had just been washed. It was **** and span after it was over.Weird I know!

gocartone that sucks,
yea im gonna be working on the estimates with it all, I dont know how the insurance can just drop your whole full coverage like that. Hope your hail situation turns for the up and up. Ill keep you guys posted on mine

No offense, but couldn't your wife have taken the truck in to get fixed?? And after a year, you are going to have a hard time using any of the DIY methods for popping the dents back out. You really need to do it as soon as possible for them to work good. Hail is a comprehensive claim, so really shouldn't matter when it happened as long as you haven't previously claimed the damage and you had insurance coverage the whole time. Meaning you didn't drop insurance while you were deployed, then started it back up when you came back only to file a claim right away.

I have had the insurance the whole time, and the only issue with her taking the durango is she had to have it to drive while her windshield was being repaired and the body work done for her insurance claim, and she had to leave town over a family emergency, it all was a combination of bad timing, and bad luck. This far out i figured the DIY methods would be pointless but always there just in case.

Did it happen on a base? They pay for any damage done here. A family members HHR was just done and covered by the Govt.

I would recommend dry ice for a couple minor ones. For hail damage you really need to find an expert in Paintless Dent Repair.

No it was not on post, I was living off post when it happened. Turns out Fort Bliss has a great reputation for having a huge shortage for quarters for its troop's, not to mention since I've deployed they have moved 3 more brigades in with no changes. Im pretty happy I am being restationed at Fort Lewis come Feb.
