my itouch is amazing!! i have over 200 bucks in apps never paid for a single one!!! thank you jailbreak software!!!

No, ipods suck because there is no way to recover from a locked ipod without using the Itunes software, and you must use the same computer in which the ipod was initially connected to, which in this case belongs to a school house in Florida.
Wrong.

Use Mediafour software, lets you move files from and to the "piece of shit" from any computer as if it was a jump drive.

You didn't have to wipe it to clear the pass either, apple stores, bestbuy, anyone with I.T can clear the pass using software they have. We did it all the time at best buy.

They charge, but its cheaper then losing 50$+ in apps and music or whatever you said.

To me it just sounds like you suck, not ipods, with a little "google" search you can easily fix most problems and find 3rd party software to fix your issues.

"Show hidden folders"? I guess its a moot point as of now; since you did a restore. Sucks that you lost paid for content.
There is no "show hidden folders" option when the computer only sees it as a camera. And since the ipod was locked, itunes would not connect to it. Do you really think I am that computer illiterate?? I've built every computer I've ever owned, and have never actually paid for any software.

I did a lot more than a "little" google searching before I came to the conclusion I did. In none of the searches I did was there any mention of any third party software to bypass the pass code lock. And I have since figured out that I didn't "lose" any of the paid for apps because I am able to re-download them for free since I've already paid for them.

I was referring to a setting in explorer. I do not have any way to guage your computer knowledge or lack thereof; just trying to help. Sorry if you feel I insulted your intelligence.

sorry to say its your own fault for letting a 4 year old whether or not he has autism. your second fault was not backing up the stuff on itunes. if you would of done that you wouldn't be in the situation of losing the stuff. third if your wife uses it for her work. why in the hell do you let the kid use it. so its not apples fault but yours. if you would of searched google you would of seen plenty of stuff to get the stuff off it.

this shows your incompetence of not knowing the device.
Whatever. My son is a lot smarter when it comes to computers and shit than a lot of people on these forums. He may be four, but he's smart. And the ipod is primarily used by him to keep him from throwing fits in public places such as the restaurant we were at last night. If you ever had to deal with a child with autism maybe you'd understand instead of being an insensitive prick. And as mentioned several times already, I did plenty of google searching, but mostly trying to get around the pass code as that was the problem. And I really didn't "lose" anything important now that I have found out all the paid apps can be redownloaded for free so really no big deal anymore. I will be jailbreaking it now though. Only reason I didn't before was because it would have erased all the school stuff that was on it.

Uh, there is no "setting" in explorer to show hidden files when your computer only recognizes a device as a camera and not an external storage device.

Then I am guessing the iTouch was not set to "enable disk use", huh?

We've never had it connected to any of our computers at the house other than to charge it. Didn't have a need to.
Well, in any event, I am glad you got the matter resolved without too much hassle. Technology is great when it works!

I may have been talking out my @ss. I just tried 2 iPods (5th gen 80 gig, and 5th gen 160 gig) and that option is under Summary>options. I also tried my iPhone 3Gs, and the option for enable disk use is not there. I am guessing that the iTouch has the same protocol as the iPhone?

How do you "enable disk use" I can't find that setting anywhere on mine.
iPod Touches do not support disk use. With a jailbreak, you can, but its pointless.

My advice, after jailbreaking it, install AFC2ADD. It will allow you to access your iTouches file system via USB (more reliable than a WiFi SSH) using iFunBox or DiskAid. From then, if the passcode happens again, it is easily reset since you have root access and can delete the lockdown files. My 12 year old brother did the same thing to my sister's iPhone, but since I had AFC2ADD on her phone, I reset it.

Correct.

Any device running the iOS (iPod, iPhone, iPad) can't enable disk mode without a 3rd party app

Well, I added my own passcode so hopefully no worries about it happening again. Used one of my "normal" pin numbers so shouldn't forget it.

Uhh, he's four and didn't know what he was doing when setting the pass code. Damn, you are a retard. Hope you never have any kids of your own. I'd feel sorry for them.

I'd say that's a little harsh. There was no need for that.

This sorta thing happens. Fix it, and move on. Not a big deal. And he did search as stated.
