So my son somehow enabled the passcode for our Ipod touch that we have. Of course we don't know what numbers he put in it so we were locked out of it. We never actually used it as a MP3 plaer so never had it connected to any of our computers, and until tonight we never even had Itunes downloaded. The ONLY way to get it unlocked in our situation was to do a restore and delete everything that we had on there. Probably had about $50 in apps that we had downloaded that we can't get back. Will have to pay the $13 to re-download the dynolicious app because it's pretty cool.

Had that same fucking problem, so now I go with better companies than Apple

*iTouch's suck*

all my iPods have been terrific :mullet:

there must be some kind of a record of your account from itunes. why cant you ask your son what the hell he did? that sucks. i'll buy your touch off you, i think apple would have a way for you to retrieve your stuff. did you call an itunes tech yet? they are usually so far ahead of what any pc person would even think of. hope it works out.

There are no "itouches" It's a Ipod Touch. Works great, loved having it. Wireless internet without lugging around a laptop. All sorts of apps to keep the kids entertained at restaurants, and it was free. UIt's the 32gb one. Wife got it for free for her schoolwork(which we lost all her schoolwork stuff that was on it) as part of her tuition which was paid for by the military.

So Apple sucks because of user error?

I guess one could make the correlation that if you locked yourself out of your own truck that all Dodges suck? :stirthepo

It came "pre-loaded" from the place she was taking online classes through, so I'm pretty sure the "account" was set up through the school and short of waiting until monday to call the schoolhouse only to have them ask why she hasn't comlleted her courses yet, and then probably having to send it back to them to be unlocked, I doubt there was anything else I could do. Did a lot of internet searching before I went the restore route and unfortunately since it was "locked" without ever being connected to any of our personal computers, we were assed out. And my son is 4yo and autistic. He is the one that gave it to us locked asking to "fix it" for him.

It's not Ipod. It's apple products in general, rebel in computers, they suck ass!

No, ipods suck because there is no way to recover from a locked ipod without using the Itunes software, and you must use the same computer in which the ipod was initially connected to, which in this case belongs to a school house in Florida.

TouchCopy... Use it for transfering music from other people's ipods to other computers.
Got it when my friends laptop crashed. Loaded everything on his ipod back to itunes. Also loaded music from his ipod to my itunes and in the middle of transfering music from his friends ipod to his hard drive.
Also works with all iphone data...don't see why not an Ipod Touch too?
It was $24 and we split it. Only downfall

Actually there is:

Plug locked iPod into computer.

Go to start>run>E:\ipod_Control\Device

When device folder opens, find file named _Locked

Delete _locked folder

Eject iPod, and it should be unlocked.

I have not personally tried this on a iTouch, just a 5th Gen 160 gig.

... Sigh. I'd love to go into a long winded reply. But it's possible. I have unlocked hundreds of iPhone's in all generations, same with iTouch's and never had a problem with getting past passwords etc using my own computer (non-original computer). I mean there is no easy way getting around it without deleting all the shit on it though. iTunes should have kept track of your downloaded apps and should be able to recover via iTunes software.

Only works if you can get into the folder. When I plug the ipod into the computer it only recognized it as a camera. The file system on the ipod isn't compatible with the windows. Trust me, I read lots of "how to's" online and none of them worked.

Yes, you are right, I had to delete everything on it and do a "restore. It works now, and I am able to re-download all the apps I already paid for free of charge since it kept track of them based on my Apple app store logon.

"Show hidden folders"? I guess its a moot point as of now; since you did a restore. Sucks that you lost paid for content.

Make sure you also always backup as well. I mean, I know it's annoying and can take hours (initial backup). But it's better than loosing all your data and then regretting it later on down the road. I know I forgot to backup my Blackberry once and someone decided they wanted to get into my Blackberry and tried 10 times and it wiped it. What a frustration...

Jailbreak your iPod then download install "installous". Every app is now free
THIS.

I never once paid for an app when I used to have an iPhone. Hell, I didn't even pay for the iPhone itself, lol.

sorry to say its your own fault for letting a 4 year old whether or not he has autism. your second fault was not backing up the stuff on itunes. if you would of done that you wouldn't be in the situation of losing the stuff. third if your wife uses it for her work. why in the hell do you let the kid use it. so its not apples fault but yours. if you would of searched google you would of seen plenty of stuff to get the stuff off it.

this shows your incompetence of not knowing the device.
