got me my very own 180 thermostat today, YAY! i read that its a shitty job, any tips? i got the gasket too should i use it or just rv instead? think i'll change all my rad fluid too probably needs it. thanks so how many horse can i count on 20-30? cant wait. bahahaha

With the RTV add another 5.

I would clean everything really well and use the gasket only.

so a total of 80! shit yeah, i'll try gasket only first and settle for the 75. i am hoping this is the first step to running just the electric fan, i'll try to get a controller switch for it tomorrow and ditch my clutch fan. will the 180 help with the whole thing or does it really matter?

Depends how much you suck with tools

i'll try it without moving the alt first, i need to get gasket sealer. i know there isnt that much room in there to work on it but it shouldnt be that bad.

If you want the most space to work with then you need to pull the whole acc bracket, alternator and ac compressor.

Yeah, but for the typical thermostat job, just swinging the alternator over will be plenty fine, and this only needs to be done just for room to scrape all the gasket and what not off the intake. If my truck had the O-ring gasket, then no, I wouldn't fuck with the alt at all.

5 dollars says you will end up moving the alt lol. It's a pain in the ass trying to scrape all that gasket off the intake with the alternator in the way.

If you have the 3.9/5.2/5.9, you don't have to completely remove it, just the upper bolt, loosen the lower bolt, undo all it's connections, and just swing it over, not completely remove it from the truck.

thanks, i think i am going to buy a cleaning wheel i can put on my drill, if i cant get it in there i'll be scraping. i hate scraping. why did dodge put it in such a gay spot? oh well there are definetly worse things to do on a truck. whenever you want to swing on by i'll be up, just about 35 mins from the U.S. border, head towards nelson bc thanks, i'll shoot you cash for gas.
