Wow, that basically makes you as ignorant as your first post makes you out to be (and that's disregarding your lack of ANY grammar or punctuation.). But really, you REALLY think that's never happened before?

wow I didnt know there were so many moms on here. Almost everybody here has something illegal on their trucks and you guys are acting like your pefect. Im sure if you got pulled over for something stupid then you would be pissed to. Cops should find more productive things to do.
I'm not going to complain when I get pulled over and get a ticket for something I put on my truck. I guess only those with integrity take responsibility for their own actions.

So OP, you think that you shouldn't get a ticket for your taillight covers, even though they ARE illegal?

Do you know why I pulled you over?
No...
Your taillight covers. I could hardly see your brake lights.
BUT THEYRE COOOOOOOOOOL LOOKIGN!!!!!
Fucking retard.

Yes I can. I worked a crash earlier this year at an intersection where a truck was making a right turn. There were your typical dim street lights along the road. He got rear ended by a car. As I am rolling up to accident I can see the car has it four way flashers on. I can see these from about three blocks away. As I arrive at the scene I can see the trucks flashers flashing very dim. I can see that he has dark tinted covers on his lights. As I investigate the crash the driver of the car states to me several times that he didn't realize the truck was slowing down to turn as he could barely see his taillights and what he did see were so dark he didn't think they were his brake lights. I asked the driver of the truck if this was the normal brightness of his lights ( brake-running-flasher.) He advises they are. Now according to FSS 316.221 taillights shall display a red light visible clearly to a distance of 1000'. This statue also states that no object, material, or covering that alters the taillamp's visibility from 1,000 feet may not be placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied over a taillamp. Having said all this I could not see this guys taillights at a distance of 300' from the rear of his vehicle. Cause of crash? His taillight covers. Who gets the ticket? Driver of truck.

There is a reason that there are traffic laws that deal with vehicle equipment. Some I will admit are goofy but several are there for a legitimate reason. There is a reason that you cannot put a covering over any lights on a vehicle. Its called safety. Yes I will admit that on some vehicles it looks better to have covers on the lights but the bottom line is that by doing that you directly affect the safety of yourself and others on the roadway. In the grand scheme of things is it worth it? To some it is.. for me it's not and that was my thought process before I became a cop.

And to those that question "don't you have anything better to do?" No actually at the time of your traffic stop I didn't have anything better to do. My job is to enforce all laws during the course of my shift. All hold an equal status to me. Be assured if there is something more pressing occurring I will be dealing with it instead of pulling you over. If someone is committing a more serious traffic offense at the same time you drive by with your covered taillights I will stop them. If you happen to get pulled over well then I guess it was your time. Comply with the traffic laws and you will not have any problems.

You have a right to bitch about getting a ticket. It is not a pleasant experience. I too have received them. Your posting here was to vent about your frustration. I do not expect to change you mind on the matter nor would I try and make you change it. To make an educated argument about the ticket one must understand it from both sides, offender and LEO.

this is an incident in which im glad a cop actually does his job. I know I would be pissed if some asshole had black tail light covers and i ran into him because I couldnt see brake lights and then I ended up getting a ticket.

Using lots of smilies is gay! And yes, don't do something that is wrong and then post that you get caught for it and then complain. That is gay to, or is that stupid?

"I'm so pissed".
"It's about revenue"
"I got a ticket"
"The cop was mean"
"He didn't give me a warning"

Whine Whine Whine. Bitch Bitch Bitch.

This is truly becoming a nation of cunts.

Pay your ticket and shut the fuck up.

damn someone is gonna get shot up in here i kinda regret tlkin bout stuff hahaha forgive me for postin lol
i realized a long time ago that if you get a ticket and post it on here, everyone is going to just call you an idiot and quit whining. sometimes I can empathize with people getting a bullshit ticket, but most of the time you shouldve known better in the first place.

Yes, you are fairly stupid for doing something you knew was wrong and then complaining about getting a ticket for it and then thinking we would give a fuck about it and side with you on it.
