do you guys recommend having the transmission flushed when getting the fluid replaced. I Heard that can damage your transmission causing you to get a new one.

Your tranny fluid already is full synthetic...Never heard it to damage. I plan to flush mine when I swap everything to synthetic.
Has the vehicle been properly maintained? That would be the determining factor for me. I have done it with good results, but I have also changed the filters and dropped the pan too, so it isn't the same fluid that has been in there since 2002...do you guys recommend having the transmission flushed when getting the fluid replaced. If you change your transmission fluid on a regular schedule and your not having problems with it you should be fine. The reason people say it could damage it is beacuse most people never flush the fluid until they have a problem.do you guys recommend having the transmission flushed when getting the fluid replaced. That's good to know but I always change everything out when I buy a new car so I know where I am at plus all my cars run on AmsoilYour tranny fluid already is full synthetic...
just drop the pan and change the filter. DO NOT go to jiffy lube they use cheap products the pan will leak.(I was a store manager for 3 Years)ive checked to see if the previous owner ever did it and theres no record its only on 85k miles. and never had it flushed. so just having the filter and dropping the pan would be ok?
another question. anyone ever had it done at jiffy lube?
I had an older car flushed @ JL (my son worked there), but I don't know if I'd trust the kids there to do it right or to use the proper fluid.ive checked to see if the previous owner ever did it and theres no record its only on 85k miles. and never had it flushed. so just having the filter and dropping the pan would be ok?

alright so i wont get the flush. is having the pan gasket replaced ok?just drop the pan and change the filter. DO NOT go to jiffy lube they use cheap products the pan will leak.(I was a store manager for 3 Years)
Yes, unless yours comes w/ a reusable pan gasket.alright so i wont get the flush. is having the pan gasket replaced ok?
how many qts should I use? its 4wd and a 4.7The reason you don't want to flush a trans that hasn't been properly maintained is that it can stir up contaminants and force them into the valve body which can cause a lot of headaches. As for the step by step, it is a very easy but messy project, you will want a large catch pan. Just remove all but the front few bolts, just loosen the front few a few turns. Pry the pan down from the back (with a catch pan under it) and let it drain a bit then drop the pan the rest of the way. Remove and replace the filter(s). If 42,44, or 46RE adjust the bands. Put on a new gasket or silicone and reinstall the pan. Fill then check while running in neutral.
