thats what ive decided to use instead of the mark viii. i dont really need the dual speeds. only question i have about this one is how to mount it to my radiator? it isnt tall enough to mount to the radiator surrounding lip.

I just installed the Flex-A-Lite 180 electric fan in my '98 Dakota R/T and it fits beautifully. It also seems to pull quite a bit of air. This mod (removing the clutch fan) along with the 25% reduction crank pulley and the engine seems to rev a little faster.

Wonder how much cfm this HHR fan pulls...

The flex a light fans are great, just really expensive IMO.

Well I just read that whole thread he linked us to, someone said it pulls 3000cfm at least....that's good, but how many amp? I also don't want/need any charging problems. I want to get rid of my clutch fan and setup a nice electric fan.

But what's so special about a HHR fan?? Just because someone else decided to try it out on an old Mopar now everyone wants one??
It's a matter of function, price and looks. And for $60, it's a damn good fan from what I can gather. It's nearly a 100% perfect fit for 00'+ radiators (just went and measured mine, and this fan would fit perfectly over it). And $60 beats $300 for a flex-a-lite.

I think I'm going to give this a try.

yeah but you get what you pay for most of the time

take some pics on what all you do to make this thang fit and keep us updated
I agree. I'm a firm believer that you don't get something for nothing. I'll be curious how it works out for you though but that may take some time. Keep us posted.

It will work for 98/99 radiators also...

I'm just concerned about the cfm. Until I get a solid number, I don't trust it.

Mark VIII and a DC Controls controller and forget about it. At least thats what I did. A year and a half and in the good ole Texas heat and not one problem. I 've got about $200 wrapped up in it and have been more than pleased.

Yea but where to find a MKVIII fan other than the junkyard? Rockauto doesn't have them
