In your case I think it would be worth it considering you get the work for free

i just talked to him and heres what he said

I have reviewed your tech sheet and would suggest that you change plans on building up the 46RE transmission. We can supply the components that would allow you to build a transmission capable of handling the power, however it would be very expensive and heavy. The added inertia weight along with the already overly heavy components would be an extreme sacrifice of horsepower in a race only vehicle. For a race only application, there is no benefit to having overdrive or the limitations of a lock-up converter. With the set-up you are running, I am sure that fuel economy is not a prime concern either.

The absolute best option for your race R/T is to install one of our Competition Eliminator 727A transmissions with the optional Ultra Sprag, Billet Steel Splined Planetary and Billet Aluminum Direct Drum. This unit will deliver far superior performance and reliability. You will be a FULL SECOND quicker in the 1/4 mile, than with a 46RE.
We can also provide a steel stator converter, designed to handle the power and maximize the power potential of your engine. We would require complete engine specifications and ideally engine dyno sheets to specifically design the correct converter.

YOUR COST: SMR Competition Eliminator 727A transmission $1,705.50
Required Options: Ultra Sprag 275.00
Billet Steel Splined Planetary 465.00
Billet Aluminum Direct Drum &piston 625.00
Complete transmission cost 3,070.50

$3k is a little steep...you can buy a nice non-overdrive unit from summit for less I believe...

For that money I'd get a t-56 and do a swap myself, unless you really want an auto. That dude you spoke to and quoted really confused me...a lot of guys run heavily modded 46REs and they're fast, I thought that's what everyone did with these transmissions...727 and 46RE are the same shit except the added overdrive unit.

And YES talk to Martin Saine...

The 727 is supposed to be more efficnient thus getting the power to the ground better. Ask Adobedude if it was worth it. He had the Martin Saine tranny and went with the 727.

I understand that, but for $3k?? Too much IMO
