is it possible to reseal headlights? i bought a pair of diamond clears on ebay and they are shit and the guy who sold him is nowhere to be found  they fog so bad and if i can help it id like to fix them instead of buying new ones.

Also dont forget sometimes the little rubber seal at the headlight bulb gets crap on it and sometimes warp and dont seal. could be simple as that and there may not be anything wrong with your headlight

Also some headlights have a vent tube. I had a set of projectors that had a little vent tube sticking out

if your not comfortable taking them apart, check what Rob mentioned, and also look into a tube of clear silicone and carefully apply it to the outside of light where the two pieces meet. That's what I did on mine, it helped on the one light but the other light still have something going on not related to the light gasket or the outer seal and it get's moisture in.

Better to vent it. Drill a tiny hole in the bottom It will keep it from fogging. I've done it with several lights that have had moisture problems.

OH BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRNNNNN!!! :jester:

Like already mentioned, if you're comfortable enough to take them apart, do that and reseal them with RTV clear silicone. I used the black RTV silicone on my taillights and have not had one single problem. Before you reseal them, make sure you clean the inside of the headlight really well as the condensation build up that was in there might have put a nasty grime/film on the reflective part of the headlight as well as the inside of the lense. Make sure it's completely dry before resealing. :eek:nethumb:

before i stick my brand new headlights in an oven and cook them i would definatly want more info and tips from people who have actually done it :jester: im interested in drilling a hole. do you just drill one hole or a couple? and how does it hold up to rain and other kinds of moisture? i would definatly rather just try and reseal them though so if anyone has any more info on how to do this please post. thanks

Honestly, I don't think it's necessary to stick them in an oven. Even if you just use a hair dryer and heat up the sealant some....it should be fairly easy to use a flat head screwdriver and CAREFULLY pry it open. Just use your common sense when prying...SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY IS THE KEY, TAKE YOUR TIME WITH IT.

Once you get to the half way point of prying the headlight, it should just come right off. Re-Heat the sealant as many times as you need to during the prying process. If you have someone else to help you, have them apply the heat while you are prying, just make sure you're wearing gloves! :D :jester: Hope this helps.....it's better than throwing them into the oven.....

Just drill a small hole up through the bottom. Rain or mousture will noty get in.

I've done it and there is nothing to worry about. 200 degrees (F) for about 10-15 minutes will warm the adhesive enough that you can gently pry them apart. Key is to take your time. If you rush it bad things could happen...

they were fine for about a month and i was with a friend and hes like you got some shit on your headlamp and i looked and it was slightly foggy. it wasnt real bad but hell i was pissed. the other one was fine so i tried calling the guy to get a new one and of course he doesnt respond. a week later the lamp was completely wet inside. so now i went through ebay trying my luck. of course they didnt do anything either. so the following week both of my headlamps were fogged completely. but thats what you get sometimes on ebay. i even called depot and they cant do anything about it they said. and to be honest i was getting tired of talking to them cause the whole company is nothing but asian people that i could barely understand....no offense to anyone who is asian on the forum. im not racist :jester:

Great.

Ill be watching mine then, if it takes that long. Might go ahead and silicone around the seam.

If they haven't already started to fog up on you, the take them off, put some silicone around the seams to seal the seams, and make sure the surface where the rubber gasket for the bulb socket goes in is perfectly clean and smooth to allow the rubber seal to properly seal. I did this with my eagle eyes prior to putting them on so I wouldn't have to worry about fogging. Had the diamond clear two piece before(depot style) and they fogged up on me. Usually only fogged up after going through an automatic car wash with the high pressure hot water they use. Haven't had a single problem with my new lights.
