hey guys, a few of you know that I am looking to get back into a dodge.

I sold my 5.9 Durango back in august which was the worst choice of my life.

But I am about to sell my acura and pick up another Dodge, this time probably the 4.7 for my right foot's sake.

Are there any problems I should know about the 4.7L engine?

With my price range, I will probably be looking at 80-150k miles, so hopefully this engine is still alright in that range! lol

oh, and how is the fuel economy on this engine?

Thanks guys!

People think it sludges, it's just the PCV needs to be relocated on it. The exhaust bolts like to break and cause it to tick.

That's all I can think of.

I did a couple mods to mine and I get 18/22 in Summer, I don't count Winter with the blend/temperatures.

I honestly think that the 03 4.7 is one of the best engines made...i had 185K on mine when i sold it and it had more power then the day it was born...no sludge, no oil use...nothing...my girlfriends brother bought it and hes got a heavy foot and its still doing great! I think that the sludge thing may be an eirlier year thing. the 5speed tranny is great too! I got between 17 and 23 mpg all the time!

I've had no problems with my 4.7 (knock on wood) it's been awesome!! My buddy had a 2000 4.7 Dak like mine before he wrote it off (flipped it 5 times), he had over 400,000miles on it. All he did was change the oil and plugs.

The one I'm seriously considering right now has 173k miles on it.

I bet i could get it for a very good price. One owner vehicle.

i did break 2 exhaust manifold bolts...

that is when it is started, but after that it's fine, just kinda happens a bunch of people have had it
i had fast idol issues and it was because my tb bolts werent tight and air was leaking...iono if its a fix on the 4.7 but on some tbs if you clean out the tb good its a fix

...deleted for not knowing what i'm talking about...

tb is throttle body. tps is throttle position sensor which is located on the throttle body. I had the same high, fluxuating idle on my 2000 4.7 dakota and i cleaned out the throttle body, and all the sensors on it and now it runs great. I even get better mpg
