Twice so far, I've gotten a check engine light light up on my dash, both times, it was something along the line of Catalyst Threshold Below Efficiency: Bank 1, both times I was able to clear the code and it has been about 2wks before it came back on.

First, considering, I only have 1 cat, and 2 02 sensors, one in front of the cat and one behind, what is/does 'Bank 1' refer to?

Second, was that enough info to help me determine whether or not my 02 sensor or cat needs replacing? If so, which one? (I want/will do both at some point, though)

I believe all of the V8 Daks (and all others with California emissions) 2 mini cats and have four O2 sensors. The 'bank' refers to the side of the engine. Bank 1 is driver's side, bank 2 is passenger side. Since you have a V6 with federal emissions, you only have 'bank 1'. Your sensors are 1/1 and 1/2. 1/1 is the front, 1/2 is the rear. If you are throwing the P0420 code, then most likely the cat is shot. But you might as well replace both sensors while you're doing it, since they're a PITA to get to.
