1hotkadota where are you???

hes had the most ive ever seen out of a 4.7l, 25.4 or something rediculous and thats with bigger injectors and a slew of go fast goodies. im jealous!
Hey Now!

I just moved to Florida last week so I haven't been able to get on. I won't have internet till next Monday so I'm at the library right now.:jester:

Seems like most of yous are getting some good mileage. Pains was right, so far my best average with the 4 speed auto on the highway was 25.4 mpg.

Mods are homemade intake, crappy exhaust setup with a flowmaster 40, FMS 24lb injectors from an 03 Cobra, Superchips, 2005 intake manifold, 2/3 drop with the 15" rims and 235/70/R15 tires. I'm hoping to get the Jeep TCM soon so I can get the fifth gear the 2003 and up guys have which should boost mileage up to 27 I'm hoping.

I run Mobil 1 synthetic in the engine and Royal Purple in the rear end which is has a 3.55 open.

A good Seafoaming every now and then helps too.

I'll be back on next week if anyone else has any questions.

I've got one for when you get back on, What do you think of all of your mods gave you the biggest mpg increase? The things that you differ from me are the 24 lb injectors, the 2005 intake manifold, and the flowmaster 40 muffler. I'm going to check out my o2 sensor tommorow and if it is bad I'm going to replace it. So I'm actually hoping that it is bad so it gets me some beter mpg. Oh and where in Florida did you move? I thought that you said north Florida before but I can't remember. I wonder if the climate will change your mpg at all.

I think he's heading to the Tampa Area? Also keep in mind he has a regular cab, so he better be getting better mileage, he's about 800lbs lighter

If you're talking GenIII ('97-'04), QC weighs less than 500 pounds more than a RC. CC weighs about 200 pounds more than RC. GenIV-up ('05-'08) CC weighs 150 pounds more than GenIII CC, but the newer QC is only 60 pounds heavier now.

my truck minus driver is exactly 796 lbs heavier than my work truck 00 RC, but my truck is a QC with ARE Shell(about 250lbs) hitch, full size spare 4.7V8. my work truck is base V6, RC SB, donut spare, no rear bumper. These weights were taken at the same scale about a day apart. also I don't remember what the fuel levels were in either truck.

This thread needs to be prefaced by whether or not you are actually calculating your MPG or relying on your overhead computer. The over head computers are high in my opinion. Also need to state whether your gas has any ethanol mixed in it.

My 00 QC with 4.7, 5speed, 3:55 gears, 31" tires, superchips on 87 octane and clutch fan delete is doing ~17 around town and anywhere from 21-23 on the highway without A/C.

I check mine from the miles on the trip odometer and and how much I fill up. With regular gas (non ethanol) I get about 14mpg mixed city and highway, and to me that seems pretty crappy compard to the numbers you guys are throwing out there. Oh and BTW I'm going to replace my upstream o2 sensor tommorow and will let everybody know if it helps. Maybe me and Tanky just have bad o2 sensors. I would love for that to be the problem.

I was using the trip odometer, until I installed my overhead computer, and used both to check the accuracy of the computer, and its within .02mpg of being correct. also I don't fill my tank all the way up into the filler neck, no ethenol in my tank(well less than 10% according to the pump sticker). I did only get 14.6mpg on this last tank, but I never got out onto the highway, just straight in town driving.

Well mine has no mods and I recently did a plug change and air filter change. I could change the oil to synthetic to help lubrication factors, and maybe open the exhasust too...but, I just think its truck variances and lack of better QA on these trucks at the factory. As I said earlier, buddy has a completely bone stock QC 03 4.7 truck...identical to mine. He's in his 60s so he's no racer or anything like that. He told me he averages 17.3 mpg IIRC. Now, thats the same stretch of roads I drive, identical...cause he lives 1 block from me. He drives 12 miles, I drive 13 miles to work. he has his oil changed at the dealer so you KNOW its nothing great.

So...bone stock to bone stock QC, same motor, same vitals internally, same fluids...and he gets 3 mpg better. Honestly, I say its factory differences. How 2 trucks with the exact same specs down to the very core can vary by 3mpg is beyond me. He even has a heavier truck (rhino lining, toolbox) to mine. Mine could stand a 100k tune up, and transmission flushing, but otherwise it drives fine.

As for checking, I do always check mine from miles drives to the gallons serviced.

03 Has a different Intake manifold and a combined Engine and Tranny computer as well. Don't know if it'll make a 3 mpg difference but there are difference's in the 03/04 trucks.

hmmmmmmm

Think someone posted before the computer thing netted what, .5 mpg difference? So maybe the intake is worth 2mpg?

I have no idea if it will do anything or not, my truck also only has 1 cat as opposed to others have 2 pre cats and 1 main cat as well. That might be part of it as well?

myrtle Beach beast- I think your 02 sensor is gone or something lol

I've got one cat and I still haven't replaced the o2 sensor yet nobody has them and they have to be ordered to get an OE one.

speaking of O2 sensors. i have a 2000 R/T and i have gone out an bought a new one for that year and it ddnt fit but a 1999 r/t i found out later fits and werks with no problem.

Weird, I'm thinking of replacing mine as well since she just hit 60k miles.
