As I said earlier, buddy has a completely bone stock QC 03 4.7 truck..identical to mine. He's in his 60s so he's no racer or anything like that.

So...bone stock to bone stock QC, same motor, same vitals internally, same fluids...and he gets 3 mpg better. Honestly, I say its factory differences. How 2 trucks with the exact same specs down to the very core can vary by 3mpg is beyond me. He even has a heavier truck (rhino lining, toolbox) to mine. Mine could stand a 100k tune up, and transmission flushing, but otherwise it drives fine.

As for checking, I do always check mine from miles drives to the gallons serviced.
There is your problem dude. His '03 has a 5 speed auto which yours and mine don't have. Get the Jeep transmission computer and you'll get the fifth gear and better mileage.

I've got one for when you get back on, What do you think of all of your mods gave you the biggest mpg increase? The things that you differ from me are the 24 lb injectors, the 2005 intake manifold, and the flowmaster 40 muffler. I'm going to check out my o2 sensor tommorow and if it is bad I'm going to replace it. So I'm actually hoping that it is bad so it gets me some beter mpg. Oh and where in Florida did you move? I thought that you said north Florida before but I can't remember. I wonder if the climate will change your mpg at all.
Hey dude, I'm in Palm Harbor right now which is a part of the St. Petersburg/Tampa area.

My biggest mileage increase was from the manifold, and coming in second and third are the Superchips and then injectors.

Now that I am down here, I get a little over 20mpg in town.

In a couple weeks I'll be getting the Jeep computer which will give me that fifth gear.:banana2:

I just found out that my o2 sensor is bad and after I change that maybe I can do more of a comparision to you mpg. But it looks like I might be doing an 05 manifold swap and some injectors in the future and I'll see how it goes. Why did you go with the 24 lb injectors and not the 21 lb ones? Because of the plan to go turbocharged? I wonder if I should go that big or get the 21 lb ones. They are the 4 hole FMS injectors right? How do you like Flordia so far? I don't know about you but where I'm at (South Florida) it is pooring right now and it has been so humid lately you feel like you are going to melt when you go outside.:jester:

now if that 02 sensor fixes the problem. I will expect a big rep from ya :jester:

glad you found out something is wrong and now maybe you can stop pulling your hair out :nana:

Yeah thanks for the adice on the o2 senor Jecht, after you recommended I take a look at it I tested it with a voltmeter and it tested bad. Then two days later I got a check engine light that said that it was bad so I just ordered one offline yesterday and hopefully I will get it soon so I can put it in. And definetly + rep.:mullet:

I had to replace all four of my O2 sensors a year or so ago. After that my mileage really went up. Have fun finding the plugs.:jester: The passenger side ones are way up next to the tranny.

Your right, I got the 24lbers because I'm going turbo, someday.

Florida rules dude. I grew up off of Griffin and Davie road in Davie. And it is great to be back. I've already caught a snook and a butt load of snapper since I've been back. I love fishing and there ain't shit in Phoenix. I've also seen a 5 foot Eastern Coachwhip snake. I'm into the outdoors, but during the summer it's not much fun in AZ. At least here it doesn't reach 100* very easily.

If you get the tranny computer and a 2003+ intake manifold, you'll net some serious mileage gains. Try adding on a CAI and exhaust if you don't have them already, for additional gains.

The 08's are supposed to get even better mileage if you get the extended cab model with the 4.7L. Good luck if you take the plunge.:eek:nethumb:

Where you think I'm stationed? But then again I'm from Georgia so I know all about heat. try the flightline in black flag conditions (heat index of 110+). Place is HAWT!!!!!!!!!!!

Like 1hot said- The computer and intake are a cheap way to get some good gains (both MPG and some performance). Most people are getting the computers for $50-$75 and the 05 + intakes are fairly cheap as well (same range from what I've seen). Doing that and increasing your MPG's by 3-4 would be a nice increase.

I've driven the 08+ Ram w/4.7 and was impressed by the new power, but didn't like the throttle by wire on take offs. The power is definitely in the upper RPM's though. I was able to pull 17mpg's in a QC SB Big Horn (20" wheels & 3.92 gears) Ram w/ 150miles on the clock. I was easy on her most of the time since I was trying to see what real world mpg's would be. I was impressed.
