I worded that incorrectly, I knew Steve was there too, I just didn't know anybody else from this forum besides us two were there. How come you didn't stay?

see thats my plan. to have my own shop no time soon of course

All-sorts-of-mechanic here. Started in the Navy, semi-changed into water purification (medical, pharmacudical, microelectronic, and industrial) for a little while, then went back to turning wrenches for inudstrial equiment, now I'm back to building engines and packages (gas compression, pumps, generators, etc). I probably overhaul more engines in 3 months than most mechanics do in a year. LOL

I'm a mechanic.... auto and diesel. Been doing it for a few years now. Used to be a tech at a Ford dealership.... screw that the pay sucked and the people were worse. I'm at more of a chain type company right now... but its only me my manager and assistant manager (I should be in that spot soon hopefully) and we all get along. Much better and I really like it.... I'm thinking about trying to get into management... good money there if you run a shop... much more than than a tech.... but as was said before... damn weekly snapon guy!!! Once you start.... its so hard to stop!!!

I'm a wannabe.

I'm a good mechanic,,just never have got that righty tighty,,lefty loosey part down pat..Kinda complicated for a old man..LOL
I'd hope you never get it down. Especially if you work on an older Mopar. :jester:

While I was outside I got a call 'bout a party :jester: so I went to that :eek:nethumb:

Dads a diesel mechanic for 30+ years, i'm going to start my automotive program in the fall at a community college.

Ive been doing small jobs at my house since I was 16. went to Votech during high school for 2 years. Then I went to wyotech which ill be graduating in 4 weeks. I do alot of random automotive jobs, people love me when it comes to fabrication, and electronics.

I got a job at a street rod shop so Ill be doing alot more work. I couldnt stand being just a "mechanic" I like doing different things, and having to think more about things Im doing.

Yea could make it tough to get the wheels off
unless your working on the driver side on an old mopar, haha,(for those of you that don't know, left handed threads were put on the drivers side wheel studs on old mopars, I stripped out a nut and a stud when I first learned of it:jester:)

But anyways my old man has had a shop running since '87 and I was born in '89 so I've been wrenching since before I could walk, I work there full time in summers and during school right now I'm working 4.5 hours a day, I specialize in old mopars because well thats the majority of the work I do and it's simple, I enjoy it and no FREDS(fvcking rediculus electronic devises).

I have an associate degree in automotive technology and worked as a mechanic at a local repair shop and a foreign car service but mind you I was a mechanic not a technician. I have been in the navy for the last 9 years as a diesel and ac/r technician a lot easier than car mechanics and pay is more.

i been wrenching about 20 years - mom asked what i wanted to take - after working on my car - give me a semi truk with lots of room under that hood. Instead of a 10 lb. starter its 50lbs lol. Honestly though with the way things are going with hybrids and the hydrogen cells ect. this industry is gonna do some radical changes. I cant even adjust my idle on my harley with out a scan tool plugged in.
