So I have noticed for awhile now (before my lift) that when I start my truck it seems that it uses alot of gas. Why I say this is because I know where I am at after I drive it and the next day it seems to look like I drove for 50 miles when no one but me drives it. So my question is can it be like plugs, fuel pump or something along that line? I haven't tuned it up since I bought it 2 years ago(only put 20k on it too) Any ideas?

You might change your spark plugs just for the heck of it.
Also you may run a fuel injector/fuel system cleaner though your system(I like Gumout Fuel System Cleaner with Regane).

Lastly maybe someone is stealing your fuel lol jk.

I have been told alot of that injector/fuel system cleaners are snake oils, but I personally have been getting better fuel mileage with that Gumout w/Regane.
I used to get around 190-200 miles out of a full tank until the low fuel light turns on.
But since I have been using this stuff I have been getting an average of 240-270 out of a tank until the light turns on.
I actually hit 300 miles out of a tank for the first time ever a few weeks ago.
I was so surprised because I have never got that many miles out of a full tank.
I do mainly 50% highway and 50% city driving.
I like to used that fuel system cleaner with a full tank of either Chevron or Shell gas.
I have just been using grade 87 just fine.
My truck is tuned to with Superchips.
I hope this helps out a little.

try seafoaming it, also try replacing the O2 sensor.
check your fuel pressure. your pump might be getting weak.
do you have a 5.2 or a 4.7? if it's a 5.2 you might need a belly pan gasket.
the 32's dont help.
i run marvel mystery oil in my gas, it's a lot cheaper than seafoam or lucas.
lucas makes good stuff, but i only buy the upper cylinder lube by the gallon. it's a LOT cheaper that way

First why don't you calculate the actual mileage you are getting. Fill up, dive at least half a tank worth to get a good number of miles, fill up again and calculate the MPG and if its stop/go or highway. Also it looks like you may have larger larger tires. Didi you correct the speedo? Otherwise the miles driven will be less than actual.

I have a computer in my truck and it says im getting 14.0 right now, so pork where do i get that cleaner? Also i have the 3.7 lol thanks for the tips guys
I believed it can be found at any parts store or walmart.

lol do you mean the overhead computer? pfft, thats a best guess MPG

ok ill take a look, those you dump in the gas at empty when you fill up right?

yea, but I always got 200 miles to a tank even though my computer say like 284 but then again when my gas light is on and i fill up from there it only takes like 14 gal to fil her up:huh:

Yeah. Fill up with the additive in your tank and drive until your light turns back on.

Hey Z.....if you get 200 mi to 14 gal, that's 14.29mpg......and that's sad......that's what I get on a good day with a supercharged v8..........

if you did not calibrate the speedo when you got the new tires everything that computer does is wrong. Everyonses ideas are good, but do the basic thing first and calibrate your speedo if you have not done so since you got those new bigger tires. Superchips does that for you along with tuning your engine.

Well i seafoamed my truck, the guy said use that instead and its the same buy that always BS with me and he was like do I ever steer you the wrong way? Well I have noticed that my truck dosnt shake so much at idle and i used shell 87

when i last changed the plugs on my quad cab i picked up 1mpg and the little shake at idle went away.

Are you running bigger tires and have you recalibrated the speedo? Big tires will drop mileage as, as will lifting the truck (punches a bigger hole through the air).

Do you notice any other issues besides lower gas mileage? If it something wrong with the fuel system or exhaust, you should notice a difference in power or how it runs.

Yes im running 32s and I never re calibrated the speedo as I dont know how to on my 2004. I have a 3.7 so im not fast to begin with but I am noticing a little better idle like i noted before. But its running nicer now.
